Bracing used to be the norm but they have found the strapping of the bottoms to be almost as good as bracing and is near impossible to screw up compared to bracing. Our codes up here changed to reflect this a few years ago.

Obed,

Thanks for the update. Nice to hear the engineers reasoning and how they want it done. I would have braced it. Still might if it was mine, but that's just me.

Hey Obed....

How's the progress on the new digs? I'm still jealous of your venture!

Sometimes he mentions something relevant, but then other times he's so far off base that I wonder if he's ever actually built anything.

Eddie

I built a bad reputation on TBN one time, it came out really good. Sorry guys, I never heard of smoke blocking. Every time I ran into the situation they called it fireblocking and it had to be 2x. I get it tho, it's two different things.

Unless you lost everything you made on the house because you didn't think about something..
If the plan says 24" centers, I don't know. There's a reason for plans.

My thought here was that if you change from 24" to some other spacing, you may find out later that other things don't fit right, and you could be sorry. HVAC came to mind. Plans have all phases in consideration. Guess I should have been clearer.

Nice. It's starting to look like a house... at least downstairs anyway. How did everything weather the cold? I'm glad to hear on the news that your temps are comming back up.

OBED

Did you get up on there and do a little dance? Looks good. Is this rain getting you? We are getting all muddy again, will have to put off the septic work again.
