For the eviction note - that's what I hate about zoning. Why you can't live in your camper while building on your property is beyond my way of thinking. I would be in the face of the inspector who turned you in, and his boss. That's not his job and shouldn't be his concern.

To add to it all, two hours after the eviction notice got served this morning, I noticed that I had left the access door to the camper's storage area open all night long. I found our 17 year old cat lying in there and saw signs that she may have eaten some d-CON poison that I put out for the mice in December. I gave her hydrogen peroxide using an eyedropper to get her to throw up. My wife came home from work and took the cat to the vet. Two hours later, the wife returned home from the vet crying. Our cat had thrown up at the vet's office and there was blood in the throw up. So I cancelled a weekend kayaking trip that had been on my calendar for months and am staying home with the wife and the cat. The cat is not doing well. We've had this cat for 17 of our 20 years of marriage and are very attached to her.

The wife had not yet noticed the eviction notice posted on the tree when she came home from the vet. So I went out and pulled the notice off of the tree. Right now, the last thing my wife needs is to learn about is the eviction notice. She's pretty torn up about the cat and expects it to die. I'm not doing so well myself to tell you the truth, partly because I'm sad for the cat and also because it's my fault that the cat got into the poison.

I'm going to let the weekend pass before telling the wife about the eviction when she's in better condition to learn about it. I hope and pray that the cat pulls out of this. If any of you guys out there pray, please say a prayer for us. I'll put the sign back on the tree after the weekend.

Find out who enforces the code and meet with him and make your case there. You seem to be remote enough that no one else evens knows you are there.

If you approach it calmly he may be willing to let you stay until your house is finished, especially if you only have a month or so overlap.

That really stinks! Hurting no one, but the petty bureaucrats must feel like they are powerful. Sad that they do things like this but often don't deal with real problems.

I'm also guessing that with whatever appeals and such are available you could stretch it out long enough to get your CO and be able to move in. Things move fast at the rough-in stage and since you are past plumbing and electrical rough-in, you could be looking at drywall in pretty short order, if you can work the scheduling out. Get the HVAC wrapped up and it is insulation and drywall time....

Sorry to hear about your cat, too. When it rains it pours...

Very sorry to hear about these troubles Obed. I'll say a prayer for you and yours including the poor cat. Geez, what luck.

Hope your kitty pulls thru. I can't believe this zoning crap. What the heck? How did you manage to live there all these years? Why is there ANY zoning where you are? Are you in city limits? If so, go talk to the potential judge and/or prosecutor and double check the A2 zoning and beg for an extra 30 days of leniency. What are you guys hurting by living in a camper? ARRGGHHH! Sounds about as sassy as a parking lot ticketer. They hire people who have terrible lives and like to exude their unhappiness onto others. It gives them some sort of weird, wretched control euphoria...

PS, the parking lot ticketers at the college I work near all drive small scooters. Their rear's protrude off the sides enough to guarantee soiled underwear. This is the only consolence a violator has.

My wife found the zoning violation sign this morning. I guess I didn't hide it very well. She took it amazingly well.

The cat is still in the red zone. When I gave the cat hydrogen peroxide to make her throw up, she inhaled some of the peroxide, perhaps a substantial amount. Right now the immediate concern is inflamation in her lungs. We are giving anti-biotics.

Obed, here in our Georgia county I would go down to the planning and zoning office and ask for a variance and I would assume you could do the same there. If that does not work you could consider going to the local newspaper ..they love stories like that and the public pressure of putting a family with a new born out on the street plays well and last but not least a good real estate attorney can buy you time until the house is done. I have been a Real Estate Broker for 30 yrs. Don't give up easy...We will pray for you and your cat...God Bless !

Whenever I get a begging letter from my college alumni group, I am tempted to tell them to get the money from the campus parking tickets I paid.
