I sharpened my chainsaw on a saw-horse in the basement.



I jury rigged a couple of pieces of wood to place in the portable vice so the protrusion jutting out of the vice would not interfere with the chain. The chain got in fairly bad sharpening shape the last time I used it. I was curious how well hand sharpening would work. I took 4 strokes with the file on each cutter. Afterwards, the chain performed nicely.

What is a pheobe bird, by the way. We had a titmouse (yeah, I laugh when I say/type it, too) fly into the house the other day (warm weather, door open). The little guy got out pretty quickly, but I was wonderin' why the "bird chirping" was so loud. :laughing:

Here's what a Phoebe looks like.



Last year we had a phoebe nest on one of our downspouts under an eave. I have debated about destroying the nest if they try to reuse it. If they do eat insects, that would be a bonus. However, I don't want them making a mess in the garage.

Nice. Thanks, Obed. We have some sort of next on our front door...in our Christmas wreath, that the I'm not allowed to take down.

Your Phoebe looks very similar to a winter gold finch here (not sure of sizes).

This weekend the weather has been terrific with temps close to 70 F. I'm currently relaxing on the front porch with my laptop. The front porch tends to be a little warmer than the back porch. The southern sun hits the front porch in the winter. The back porch on the north side of the house stays shaded almost all the time. The back deck does get some sun in the mornings.

Even if you were willing to host a nest inside the garage, which would be messy, I doubt they could successfully raise chicks unless you leave the overhead door open all day from pre-dawn to post-dusk. Then your garage would be full of mice. :laughing: Better to shoo them out and force them to find a good nest site.

Phoebes are hawkers. They sit on the fence and watch for a bug, then swoop down and nab it. They are voracious insect eaters while raising chicks.
