At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

It's seasonal for me, but after alot of hot work on the tractor, I've been enjoying the hefewiezen beers. Although in the winter, it's gotta be dark... stouts, double bocks, ales... Aw heck, I love 'em all! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Although, when it's really hot, an ice cold Corona will just slide right down!

Heck, maybe I should be asking what brews people don't like. I'm not a big fan of Heineken.

Different tastes for different folks; Corona, to me, is the worst tasting beer I ever tasted. But since I seldom drink beer anymore, I switched from Bud to Natural Light when I do buy beer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

In another forum, I got in trouble with another member just for recommending that parents should teach their children to "drink responsibly". Now you want me to list my favorite brew? If it is free, I will drink what ever is supplied. If I am buying, I prefer Budweiser. Does anyone remember Krueger Beer from Newark NJ? Sure miss the old Ballantine Beer, Pabst, Schlitz, etc. beer commercials. Loved the Miss Reingold contest every December... Those companies are now gone and so are the beers. Some have had the names resurrected, but the beer isn't the same...

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

Gentleman Jack or Makers Mark on the rocks! If I've been in the sun and baked, then usually a Corona or MGD with lime. If it's just the wife and I relaxing after dinner, then a good shiraz, merlot or cabernet out on the patio. Aw heck, anything with "medicinal" properties will do.

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

You can still get Pabst and Schlitz. I bought a 12 pack of Pabst the other week. It was $4. The kid behind the counter was laughing at me! I think Old Milwaukee is still one of the best tasting beers when it's ice cold. If it starts to get a little warm, all bets are off.

For me nothing goes down better than Harp Lager . Closely followed by Victoria Bitter ( VB) ( by preference ,not as a chaser /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) John

Dont laugh to hard fella's, but for me it is a good to the last drop cup of coffee, and I make good coffee. Like it stronger than most, and if it happens to be cold, all the same.

I am 46, been drinking it since I was 5, aint gonna change now!

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

Killians Irish Red, at the very end, water the rest of the day, Lauders Scotch straight up when someone else is buying. What else would someone with a name like mine do? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

My mother told me that coffee would stunt my growth and wouldn't let me drink it. When I started to drink coffee, I realized the the "stuff" that she brewed was more like mud, then coffee. By the way, how tall are you?????? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

Leinenkugel Red for me, followed by Leinenkugel Original, followed by Corona. Leine's Red was the first beer that really had a taste (to me) that was above the 'other' run-of-the-mill beers.
Leine's beer was only local to northern Wisconsin for a long time, until, as I understand, Miller's made an agreement to help with marketing their beer nationally.
Leine's red
Interesting thread you started.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute Ale. Or Kross Breugel Blonde Ale in the Belgian style.

Wait! Bad! Full of carbs! Darn! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

That is sooooo tough of a question!

When I am in the mood to brew, usually a nice pale or brown ale. I aint brewed in a long time though...

Otherwise, depends on the day. There is such a selection of brew available here. Microbrew selection is great. There's a few breweries in the area. I do tend towards a nice wheat, or move to a brown ale or stout. I do like things like Widmer Hefe better than the spicy/clovey German styles....

Don't go much for American Rice beer(Bud) or Corn beer(Coors). Bud advertises the best grains, yeast, and water(Oh, they have a specail hop in a sealed contianer that they wave over thier beer too). They don't say that they use lots of Rice as part of the grains. It is cheaper than barley, and has a good sugar content, hence alchohol in the end.

Coors does the same. They use a lot of corn in thier beer. They do it because it is cheap, and has lots of sugar(again, makes alchohol, keeps body light).

Ever note that Bud is the King of beers? But, it never got the beer of Kings? Budvar has that title in Europe, and has for years. Budwieser has been trying to leverage them out of that for years now.

If I had to grab something quickly from the shelf, probably be a Sierra Nevada Pale. Great local(90 miles away) micro brewery success story.

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

Man...a thread dear to my heart...

Right now I am sipping a glass of Victory Brewing's Golden Monkey, which is a rather good Belgian style tripple...

At the risk of sounding like a beer snob...I must admit I generally choose water if BudMillerCoors is the only option... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well truthfully...I may drink one can of MudmillerCoors, but that is my limit...then I reful with a soft drink or soda water... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

edit: I guess I should have added I am a homebrewer, but the tractors have put homebrewing on the back burner for about a year now... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif My favorite homebrews are Belgian style doubles and Belgian wheat beers...although I also like to do an IPA now and then, along with some pale ales...

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

I'll admit that I'm not much of a beer drinker, but if it's real hot outside and I have been working hard then most any cold beer will do to quench my thirst.

I think I'm a 3 beer drunk. I spill one, drink one, and give one away! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

Used to drink Sam Adams, now I think it's overpriced. Now it's primarily Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Many local microbrews (Victory, Weyerbacher, River Horse, Flying Fish) make some pretty tasty stuff as well.

Of course, if it's my turn to by for my (mens league) hockey team, then it's Yuengling Lager or Molson (I know, Canadian Budweiser).

Actually several friends of mine are homebrewers and I finally brewed my first batch about a month and a half ago. It's a Czech Pilsner which turned out pretty good. I think I'll make sure it's still good. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Must admit, I never cared much for Corona, Heinken Red Stripe, Tiger, to name a few.

Re: At the end of the day, what\'s your brew?

Hmmm... an interesting query, particularly on these warm Summer days. Right now, I am thinking along the lines of a lightly sweetened sun-brewed tea in a tall glass with ice and some mint leaves. On occasion, I enjoy a good ol' Rolling Rock. Years ago, it used to be bottled in 7 oz rounded green glass bottles, aptly nicknamed "green grenades." I haven't seen them in years.
Guinness Stout, Bass ale, and that heady, dark Brazilian brew, Xingu are high on my list of enjoyables when we are eating out.
