At wits end with battery?

The fact that the engine won't turn over even when you jump it with other batteries suggest you may have connection problems as well.

Yes and no..if the existing battery is really dead and or shorted, just jumping might not help. Ive had to totally disconnect the old battery in the past a few times to get a truck to turn over. The dead battery just sucked soo much amperage that the jump didnt work

I experienced the battery thing a while back on my Dodge Dually and listened to my TBN friends and replaced them ... good to go.

Just last week my tractor ... 2006 with 1000 plus hrs running my irrigation pump ... dead new battery and good to go.

I have a closed cell gel battery I was thinking about putting on my tractor. I got it out of a wheelchair. I would have to find some metric all thread to make a new hold down though... If I had to buy a new battery right now I would put an Optima in it!

Ive seen the Optimas at NAPA and im interested in them, but i dont know if they will work in a tractor (bump bump bump)

I have had an optima in my trencher for three years (200+hrs run time) and no issues, I think it gets roughed up at least as much as a tractor would, especially when trenching hard ground.

They use them on all kind of off road racing etc. Had one in my jeep, great batteries!

... The battery is showing 12.59 volts! Could it be there is not enough amps? Maybe the battery is dead? Please post your ideas....

A good battery will show ~14 volts when fully charged.

Haha I love coming here and reading y'alls post. Very good information in them. I finally replaced the battery (again, choice words and bloody knuckles) and as soon as I turned the key it turned over and started. Quickest start I have seen on any vehicle, let alone a tractor.

Glad you got it going..Now you could decide to use some sort of Battery Maint. to keep it up and in good shape.I know some might say to not bother, but I have a battery now going on over 10 years and only reciently decided that I would use a tender.At this point to extend out the battery life.
They have come a long way withe the tenders, right now Im using the Harbor Freight el cheapo,Glad you got it going..Now you could decide to use some sort of Battery Maint. to keep it up and in good shape.I know some might say to not bother, but I have a battery now going on over 10 ears and only reciently decided that I would use a tender.At this point to extend out the battery life.

Also purchased this one to sweitch between several other batterys.works great.
