At wits end with battery?

A good battery will show ~14 volts when fully charged.

I personally never seen a battery testing 14 volts unless the engine is running, then I usually get between 13.5 to 14.5 volts. All my batteries that I have tested with engine stop and no load were around 12.5 V. My personal experience.
