CountryBoy,
I'm on the diet as are my parents and many people at work.
I'm loosing wieght but not as much as others. I don't need to
loose much 20 pounds at the most but I have not been able
to loose the weight through excercise. With my parents on
the diet and everyone at work it just pushed me over the edge
to try the diet.
I heard an interview on the Peoples Pharmacy about the diet
a few months ago. The hosts where very sceptical and
grilled the Dr being interviewed, so to speak. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif He is at
Duke and the health side affects that I was worried about
dont' happen.
So I figured what the heck, I'll try.
I have a few problems on the diet. I really don't like to eat
meat that much. My first week I ate more steak than I had
in the previous year. It did take me awhile to figure out what
I could eat and what I could not eat. My first week of
induction was a failure when I mistakenly ate some stuff I
should not have....
Besides all the meat, my biggest issue is coffee and beer. I
cut my two beers a night back to one which is more the I
should have on Atkins. And my coffee I was/is/are still adding
sugar. I finally got a new box of sugar and I saw how many
carbs I was getting if I drank all my coffee, which I seldom do
when I'm on Atkins, but it would meet/exceed the 20g per
day. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The wife is trying to pick up the sugar substitute
for me today.
A guy at work started last week and in his first week he lost 6
pounds. Another guy has been dropping 20 pounds a month.
My dad is in that range with my mom a bit lower.
I'm loosing about 1.5 to 2 pounds a week with my beer and
coffee routine so I really can complain.
The other problem I have is I eat 2-4 "energy" bars when I'm
working on the property. With all of the rain I have not been
able to work out there in a month so this has not been a big
issue but when I get back out there it will be. I can work all
day on those bars and I don't think Slims Jims are going to
work the same. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The thing I have noticed as have my parents is that Walley
World can't keep the low carb bars/drinks on the shelf. That
tells me that there are lots of people doing Atkins. If Walley
World can't keep the shelves full they are really selling the
stuff....
The diet works. But I can't wait to get back to my normal
diet. The one thing I have learned is to watch the carbs and
portions. We eat lots of rice and pasta. I have already cut
back what the family eats. We have lots of veggies to eat
anyway we just have to cut back on the carbs...
Later,
Dan
