I'm almost ashamed to ask this but what is the procedure of connecting a 3 point hitch backhoe to ones tractor?

I just purchased one and want to connect it to my 2430 Jinma.
Though at first glance it appears straight forward but the more I look the more questions I have and the instructions are not all that great (attached are some pics of the back side of the hoe sitting in my trailer).
The mounting hardware is straightforward, two bolt-on positions at the bottom and one on top.
This gives me the horizontal member that I believe connects to the "top llink" position of my tractor.
According to the instructions the bottom arms of my 3pt then connect down below to the same position as the support diagnal members of the mounting hardware.

I guess the real question I have is how do you set up the bottom arms so they will carry some load as I don't think the top link should be carrying all the load.
Obviously the bottom arms are hydraulically adjustable and could be put into any position so what is there to prevent them from moving? And how do you know when you have it correct?
Is there a way of locking the arms?

Thanks for any help as can be seen I'm still quite the novice,

Looks like you've got everything hardware wise.
OK - here is the scoop:

1. The top link does support everything !!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Do whatever you got to do to get all the hydraulics ready
to connect to the Backhoe.
3. Get your BH (Backhoe) on the ground and back your
tractor up to it as close as possible to connect the
hydraulics .
4. Turn off the tractor then hook up the hydraulics.
Doing this will make sure you don't "dead head" your
hydraulic pump on the tractor.
5. Start up the tractor.
6. Lower the out riggers on both sides to support the BH.
7. Manipulate the boom & Dipper to further support and level
The BH. (Kind of like a 3 leg stool).
8. Adjust (raise / lower) the 3 point arms so that you can
connect the 3 pt arms to the BH.
9. Keep adjusting the BH outriggers, dipper, boom, to keep
the BH level
10. Adjust the toplink that is attached to the BH so as to
connect it to your tractor toplink hole. Extend it or
shorten it as needed.
11. Now Bolt on those brackets that are attached about
midway to the toplink down to the bottom of the BH near
where the lift arms are. This is the key to 3 PT BH's it is
what supports it and keeps it from lifting / lowering. While
transporting and digging.
12. At this point you must now lower the 3 point all the way
down this is very important. The BH SHOULD NOT MOVE
DOWN (at most 1/2"). As long as you BH is connected
your 3 point adjustment lever must allways be in its
lowest setting otherwise the Hydraulic fluid will overheat
because it will be pumping fluid through a high pressure
bypass.

These are the 12 eaisy steps to connect your new Backhoe.
BTW - I have a Bradco 3 Point Backhoe this is how I know this. I also have a Jinma (ON ORDER) 71 days now and counting.

I took another closer look at your second picture. and I see it is a self contained BH with what looks like what might be the PTO pump wraped in plastic. over on the left hand side.
Nice Hoe !

What brand is it?

Thanks Larry,
Yes, it is a self contained unit w/pto pump. The brand is "Taylor Way" and it's a repackaged Italian backhoe, looks similar to a Mazzotti from what I can tell.
I guess I'm suprised that the top link takes all the weight, didn't expect that. Learning something new every day!

Perhaps another question. This tractor has a draft control as well as a position control lever on it. Do you set both levers in the full down position? I guess both control the lower arms but serve different functions. Would not want them to be fighting each other.

Thanks again for your help and hope you get your tractor soon,

You are correct in that the draft control should also be in its lowest set position. Bottom line is you don't want the tractor trying to lift the 3 pt arms at all while the BH is connected.
You will be suprised how rigid the 3 pt mount is after its all bolted on. Italian BH cool. Lots of hydraulic Motors and valves are made in Italy.

The diagonal bracket going from your toplink to the lower pins will keep the hoe from lifting. I reattached your picture with an arrow pointing to the bracket.

I have a Koyker 3 point hoe, while it is not as heavy duty as yours, the anti-lift bracket is inverted compared to yours. In it's configuration it seems to take the load off of the top link. See the picture.

Brent and Larry,

Thanks for the help, I think I'm starting to understand it.

Attached are some pics of rough assembly/alignment of the mounting hardware to the tractor.

Please let me know if this appears correct.

Another question (more to come I'm sure); With the hoe attached that way what is there from keeping the hoe from lifting while digging? The arms don't have any down pressure on them so again is the top link taking all the load? Or will the hoe rise up?

Brent, Where do your diagnal links attach to at the tractor?

Thanks again /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That diagonal link is what keeps you lift arms from lifting, or it should.

The dual toplinks you see in my photo connect to the backhoe just below where the regular toplink connects and at the tractor there is a bracket connected to the drawbar. My liftarms don't move an inch.

Hank
How are you making out? You want to set it up for about 10-12" of clearance,The diagnal braces control the height.I usually blace the bars in the foward hole and secure them with the pin for the lift arm.You will probally need to adjust it a bit shorter to keep the seat level. Thanks for buying !! Ive sold quite a few in the past couple of weeks. They are similar to mazzotti but a different Italian factory makes them.Run the pto at 540 RPM

Hank,

HOLD IT - DOING IT WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Follow the directios to the letter. In the order listed. Don't try to mount the brackets without the hoe attached.
Those yellow brackets do not pin on the lift arms they bolt to the BH only. See attachment above.
PM Me with your Phone # or PM me and I will give you my #.
Lets talk live about this before something goes terribly wrong.

Shifty,

Thanks, got it home okay but as you can see from my posts I'm scratching my head about installation. Should have brought a camera when I was out at your place to have some pics of the installation. The memory isn't what it used to be /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I stand corrected.
Sure looks like it still could have been hooked up as I thought.
/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I think it would have been eaiser to mount / dis-mount.
