Attaching a rototiller

I borrowed a 48" roto tiller from a friend today, but I'm having trouble getting it hooked up. I lift it as high as it will go with the lower bars and the top link hookup is still too close to the tractor. The tiller was mounted on an old Kubota L1500; I'm trying to mount it on a BX2230.

Just from my observations as I have never ran or attatched a tiller...... There is a silver colored handle right behind where the top linl attaches. It appears to be the adjuster for the top link. It also looks like you have a few rounds from fully seated on your top link. I would move the TL all the way in and then turn the other handle to get the TL lined up. Is this what you were wanting?

BX has a Cat 1 3PH. But it is small compared to the 3PH on a larger tractor. Even if you could get the top link hooked up. PTO shaft may be to long. Installing a PTO shaft that is to long can damage the tractor and tillers PTO. Can you borrow your friends tractor to get the tilling done?

Never used a tiller, but looks like you need a shorter toplink. Be sure that the PTO shaft is the correct length.

Looking at the pictures it would appear that the tiller will not fit unless the bottom arms are longer.

1: there is not enough length for the drive line to fit.
2: the tiller will not be able to sit level
3: the drive line will have too much angle on it.

With longer arms you may have trouble keeping the front of the tractor on the ground.

Wow.. looks like a grease lava flow coming out of that gearbox.. anything left in there?

That looks to be a grey market tiller and you will probably need a 12 inch barrell toplink (shorter) to get hooked up correctly--Ken Sweet

Last month I bought a pre-owned Yanmar RS1200 rototiller to use on my B7510HST/LA302 FEL. Since I have a garage with concrete floor, I've gotten in the habit of constructing dollies for my implements (brush hog, box blade, rototiller and more to come).

Here's a photo of the gantry-type dolly I use for the rototiller. Makes it easy to move around, hookup to the 3PH and service.
Cost about $150 (mostly for the 1-1/2" pipe fittings). Cheapest gantry I could find to do the job is about $550 from Harbor Freight.

I just purchased a tiller that looks very similar. I am also having issues with hooking it up. It does look like a grey market tiller, where the tiller PTO input is in front of the 3-pt hitch connection!! Could have been a 2-pt orginally that was converted to a 3-pt. I need to weld some arms on the tiller to push to further away from the tractor but hopefully it will not make it to rear heavy. For you being it is a borowed tiller, you might need to borrow the tractor aswell, as someone suggested.

I might. The tractor it came off of is definately a grey market, I'll hopefully have the other half of the drive shaft in a few days. I plan on making a chain toplink and seeing how that works. I think everything will line up once the tiller is on the ground, it's just transporting it that is difficult.

Like the idea of the dollies. Would you post pictures of the others? What size/weight capacity wheels are you using? Framing material? I've got a rotary cutter and a backhoe that I would like to put on wheels to make it easier to attach/detach/move.

Need to mimimize the height of the dolly because the lower arms of the 3PH on my B7510 HST can only elevate about 24 inches.
