I have a B7610 and I was looking to maybe get a new attachment or 2. I was wondering if I could start kind of a poll where people would rank attachments by how often they are used. For example:

1 FEL
2 MMM
3 BB

I know it's different for everyone, but I am just trying to get a general idea of what attachments are most useful.

Well, seeing as I only have 3 attachments (so far), this shouldn't be too difficult:

1. ML106 FEL - everyone was right... I don't know how I lived without one.
2. 60" KK Box Blade - Most of the time it's just ballast for the FEL /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif, but it does see a good bit of use.
3. 60" KK Rotary Cutter

I only have three and they are the three you listed. They each see equal use but the loader stays on always and is used 100% of the time meaning without it I would have a much harder time using the BB or RC. My use of the RC and BB is split 50/50.

I think you need all three listed. The optional implements are the tricky ones. Optional implements include chippers, PHD, landscape rake, etc.

Attachments I have include the following:

5' KK rotary cutter
5' KK back blade
5' KK york rake
64" snowblower
FEL

Items I have built or installed include:

Clamp on bucket forks
3 pt. reciever hitch for moving trailers, or dragging logs.
Front weight bracket for hanging weights on.
7' plow blade that attaches to bucket for plowing snow.
Simple homemade cab to keep majority of snow or rain from getting on me.
Reinforced top edge of bucket with 2"x2" angle and welded on hooks for lifting with chains.
Additional lighting.

I won't list all my implements, but here are the four most used and their order of importance/use.
FEL
Boxblade with rippers
Backhoe
Rotary Cutter

There is almost no time that I'm on the tractor that the FEL doesn't get used for something, whether it be just to carry something to another spot, loading, carrying water to a far away plant/tree, mixing cement, moving a rock that's in the way, breaking a low hanging limb off out of my way while mowing, carrying bags of something, hauling cut firewood, and on and on. By far the most used attachment I have.

Hi Griffey,
Here's my list and order.

FEL
Boxblade with rippers (HYDRAUILIC gear driven if possible /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Backhoe
Rotary Cutter
PHD

FEL stays on and has toothbar. I'd strongly reccomend a Hydraulic Top-n-Tilt to adjust the implements and also Pat's E-Z Hitch up thing for changing them around.

My wife claims that I have every attachment that exists in the known universe (but she is wrong, of course /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). It is misleading to rate attachments on the basis of frequency of use, since some are obviously seasonal. Instead, I have ranked them by overall utility in three categories; (1) year round, (2) seasonal and (3) attachments used for particular purposes when needed:

The ones that I use constantly/frequently are:
1. FEL
2. Toothbar
3. Pallet Forks
4. BH ( I don't use the BH that often but when needed, there is nothing else that can take its place)

The ones that I use regularly, but on a seasonal basis are:
1. MMM (late spring through fall)
2. Snowblower (winter /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )
3. Chipper/shredder (spring and fall)
4. Tiller (spring)

It is hard to rank these since each (or some equivilent, is essential for its own function)

when I finish building my splitter, I will also be using it seasonally in the fall.

The ones that I use on an "as needed" basis:
1. Boxblade
2. PHD
3. Rearblade

I use the boxblade much more frequently, but the PHD often enough so it is worth having it.

If I had to pick the five most essential attachments, overall, for my uses (excluding the toothbar and pallet forks, which are low $$ items that anyone with an FEL should have) they would be:
1. FEL
2. BH
3. MMM
4. Snowblower
5. Tiller

But then, again, I wouldn't want to do without the Boxblade either.

The only one that, with hindsight, I would not have bought, since I don't ever seem to use it: Rearblade (btw, anyone want to buy one? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It is not that it doesn't work, it's just that the boxblade is more versatile and useful)

Hope this helps.

The thing I use the most is my rear finish mower.
Next on my list would be my dirt scoop.
And then would be my rotary cutter.
I am working on building a rear scraper blade that will see a lot of use.

Then there is a 2-16 plow that gets used maybe twice a year.

Wish I had a 3 pt generator and a sicklebar mower.
Also wish I had a FEL. and a box blade.
Also wish I had a bigger newer tractor sometimes.

Since mad mentioned toothbar, I should have just included that with the FEL. I didn't have a toothbar for a while before getting it, and there is a world of difference with having one.
Pat's EZ change for the 3pt hitch hookups is another great, low cost option to get also.

Hi Griffey,

I think loader is #1 for anyone who has them; mine is only off when I need more maneuverability.

Otherwise:

2. Box Blade-root & soil rippers, grader, dozerblade, ballast in a relatively cheap & compact package; if you have the FEL and no box blade, it should be your first pick.

3. Mower- I say mower because a guy with 1 acre of lawn needs a finish one; someone doing fields or rough stuff needs flail or sickle bar; someone with rough stuff & brush needs the rotary cutter (best all around IMO)

4. <ENTER YOUR IMPLEMENT HERE> For me it was a logging winch, others a tiller, others a backhoe... your needs dictate specific attachments... 2 & 3 are multi-purpose most folks need at their property.

What are you planning on for land improvement/maintenance? How many acres? Terrain? Future projects in mind? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

/ Attachment rating #11
1. FEL
2. BB
3. BackHoe
4. Bush hog (seasonal sort of)
5. Rake
6. Disk (seasonal)
7. Pallet forks (as needed)

What do you pull that sucker with.. 2-16 is a stout pull.. a ford N is rated for 2 bottoms.. 10-12-or 14, or a single 16. Guess if you pull it in.. uh.. sand.. or soft earth.. or snow /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif it will do ok.

Here's my list

1. FEL
2. Toothbar - I LOVE MY TOOTHBAR!!! Amazing what a difference it made for the FEL
3. Rear Blade
4. Tiller

The soil around here is soft in most places of the yard.
Most of the yard is in the flood plain of the river.
It will be under water for several days each year.
Pics of the worst flood in 100 years can be seen here.
http://web.infoave.net/~poohbear2767/floodpics.htm

Normally I take one of the bottoms off and pull single.
Last weekend I tried both bottoms. Pulled like a champ.

I only got the plow cause it was cheap. $100.
My dad wanted one to plow his garden with.
But his garden gets smaller and smaller every year.
This year you mite could park 6 8N tractors in it (2x3)
but only if there were no implements attached.
Almost too small for me to plow.

based the ones I would not want to be without. I'd have to say...
#1 rotary cutter , cuts everything that the lawntractor doesn't
#2 ok, next the FEL , it is the ultimate outdoor , move everything tool
#3 is a tie between the back blade for snow in the winter ,then gravel drive maintanence in the summer.
and the tiller, I like my tiller
#4 sprayer keeps the grass green instead of yellow
#5 RFM had seen no use yet this year, see item#1, but I'm sure it will someday, then it will be #1 on my list
#6 BB , no heavy ground works in the future, all done (I think) any light grading, mulch, manure, and such I'm doing with the FEL. Now it was the best tool when I was in heavy landscaping mode
#7 PHD , for fencing and planting, I see a couple more hundred feet of fencing in my future, so I'll hang on to it, this tool gets borrowed a lot
