Jeez, it's been too long since I've posted an attached jpg or gif here. I can no longer remember how to do it.. and the FAQ mentions a field when editing the post which allows you to pick a file to upload ... only I don't seem to have that field anymore.

I have the "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file" box checked.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bob

The attachment box is between the post that will be posted and the area where you can make additional edits. {see attached}

You're getting the intermediate screen where you are given a chance to edit your post, right?

Hi Mike,

Yes, I'm getting the options to preview and edit my post, and I will see now, but I don't think there is any attachment box for some reason.

Nope... I'm editing it now, and all I have is my post displayed, and in the "Edit some more" area is only the "Subject" area and the actual "Post" area where you edit the post. No option at all for attachments. It's been so long since I posted an attachment, I can't remember what it's supposed to look like.. but there is NO place that let's me enter one.

Wait, I'm using a beta of Opera 7. Let me try again with Internet Exploder, and see if it makes a difference.

LOL! Is that an attachment, or an implement? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Okay, I'll have dig into the preferences of Opera 7 and see what isn't enabled.

Thanks John...

Ahah! If you have it identify itself as Opera, there's no attachment box displayed. Change it to Mozilla 4.78 and the attachment box appears.

I like to run as Opera, hoping websites will start supporting it when they see it used.. but I guess in this case there is some code that doesn't run when it thinks it's Opera.

Thanks again, John...

Hi Bob,

Tell me what section you're going in to make changes to Opera...

I just installed it as is and left all the defaults as original...

John,

Go into preferences, and select network. At the top you'll see browser identification. Try Opera and I'll bet you can't post any more of those great implements! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Happy Holidays!

Changing my Opera for "MSIE 6.0" to identify as "Opera" to test <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/forumfiles/18-218815-Meliinjeans.gif>... attachments...</A>

using it this way I get an error message from TBN stating:
<font color=blue>..."Although file attachments are allowed, you must be using a Mozilla 4+ compatible browser for this feature."...</font color=blue>

and switching back and identify as MSIE 6.0 mode makes attachments work normal (with other Opera addressed issues...)

Interesting.. I never got the error message. One thing I do routinely get, though, is after hitting the "Continue" button it will tell me all fields are not filled in, and I'll have to hit the back button and then try again.. sometimes many times. Eventually it always takes the post, but I've never been able to isolate the exact circumstances when it's going to be easy or difficult.

I wish all sites would do what GRC.com does.. be completely browser-neutral. No client-side scripting, no cookies, dynamically-generated pages, etc. In the meantime, I guess we have to keep messing around with settings to get different sites to work properly. I like leaving my browser ident set to Opera, so more sites will see hits from Opera and eventually realize it's an important browser and begin to support it. Here, I'll just have it identify itself as Mozilla or IE when I need to post an attachment. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Bob

p.s. Go into Preferences again, and pick windows. Under Windows, pick "Open Requested Pop-up windows only." Great feature! No more pop-ups unless you do something on the page that needs a pop-up to function. Cool, eh?
