Attention FOTON 404 owners..

Attention FOTON 404 owners.. I have been surfing chinese forums on multiple sites for quite some time now, and test driving different tractors as well. I have some questions about this tractor I am an the verge of buying. If you have one, or are knowledgeable about them, please help me before I do someth'n stupid.

1) Do the dual remotes on the 404 work with the clutch in and out?
2) If I put a FEL on it, can I tap into the side instead of using my remotes?
3) Does anyone have any crossover numbers for the fuel and oil filters?

Any extra info would be helpful as well. I've already heard from some of you saying how happy you are with the tractor, now I just need these specifics answered.. Thanks in advance,

1. yes, the hyd pump is engine driven
2. yes,Koykers loader kit taps into a hydraulic line, not the remotes. the factory loader on the smaller tractor uses the remotes, but i don't know about the 404 size.
I don't have info on 3 yet.

I noticed you are selling more Farm Pro's. I also saw you said you have a 70hp to sell. Just wondering what's happening with the EPA and the bigger machines? So far, so good with the 8240.....

We have a 4020 and a 7020 with cab in stock. Homier is responsible for any EPA issues as they are the importer/distributor of these tractors. I would not import this model myself. I suspect that HOmier has a special exemption negotiated with EPA to permit thsese in. they are sure not being secertive about it!

Chip, does the 70hp tractor you have in stock have the turbo charged Perkins? I heard that the turbo charged one is EPA approved and that Perkins will honor the warranty on the engine

Yes, 4 cyl turbo charged. It is one sweet running engine. What I like is the high quality castings, square corners are nice and crisp, nicely painted engine/chassis. The plastic inside the cab reminds me of a 1986 Hyundai, but for the money it is a lot of tractor.

Sorry to get off the subject ya'll have go'n on.... but I'm concerned about #3... if a person doesn't have a source for filters... what are they to do?

How about a dealer? I think many of them sell filters for the tractors they sell. You might pay a little more, but I am sure that somewhere in the future a filter company will manufacture one.

OF course we can order filters from Homier for the Farm Pro version. I just have not seen what the NAPA cross over is or even confirmed that there is one for these tractors. People do tend to underestimate the importance of thier dealer in after sale support, like finding/supplying filters /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The fuel filter is common. The oil filter needs to be converted to 3/4 thread and use a common and available filter.
I have nearly 200 hours on my 404 running on Used cooking oil and diesel when necessary. Its a very good hard working machine. The FT704 is a very good tough machine.
You wil not go wrong with either.

I had it made at a local machine shop. Find a 3/4 inch oil pipe and remove the 24 mm cut it half into and let the machine shop make threads for the 3/4 into the 24mm. Seal with thread lock and put it on. Mine cost $10. An OEM replacement filter is $15 plus shipping. The only off the shelf filters available are for hydraulics and cost $35 each. Last summer I made this and I have several post from last summer with pics.

The Foton and KAMA have different filter housings completely.
We stock the filters for the KAMA or you can buy an adapter housing from Buck at EFC to convert to spin on style filter if you prefer. I have asked the factory if we could use the spin on filter housing as used on the Yangdong engines and was told no, even though the housing would bolt to the block, perhaps becasue there is more suface area on the factory cartridge style filter. Buck's kit uses a baldwin filter and appears to be at least as big as the factory. filter in terms of surface area. He has to do a bit of machining to convert a factory mount to spin on. In the past, he would machine your mount, but lately I have seen him offer it as an outright sale.
We do have spare mounts (factory type) if he still needs you to send one in for modification.

Thank you both for the information. Yeah, that oilf filter IS big. For the 50 hr service I cleaned it thoroughly and replace it.
You guys know I have my own machine shop and could surely make the modifications myself if I only knew what the Baldwin filters look like. Maybe I could get the part number and buy one and try it from there....any idea which # it may be?
