atv flail mower

Just one comment on this. Seems to work very well but the other video you have on youtube of kids running the atv and flail mower scares me. The idea of four kids (all on the atv at once) running an atv with a flail mower sitting behind to be honest sounds like some really bad judgement. The other members can see the video here. As a parent and someone who's seen farm accidents it made me cringe.

You know, that was the only time I let them try that. I did realize just what I was doing and made them get off. It is a scary thought as to what could happen!

Here's one I built for clearing snowmobile trails. 58" cut, 24 hp Honda, uses Alamo flails and parts. Eats anything you can drive over with the ATV. It cuts at a faster speed than a rotary will in the heavy stuff. It also tolerates hidden obstructions like rocks, downed trees and such better than the pull behind rotaries we also use. I mounted the tires inboard since we have to cross narrow bridges on the trail.

must have been going fast in that first pic, cause that grass just looks beat down, not really cut?

Yeah I was going too fast. I just started into that field and stopped to take the picture. It got a little better as I went. The problem comes from the weeds and such being stiff and dried out. The ATV pushes them over and the flail has a hard time picking them up and cutting them when they're really long. The second picture is better. He's going fast and the grass/weeds are still green and more flexible. It cuts better that way with less dust and chaff. We only have to knock the tall stuff down. The cut height is just over 4". Snow will cover the rest. The club next to us will be building one this fall. It will be an improved model as I found a few places I could improve the design.

If you could offset the mower, although it might be harder to pull, wouldn't that keep from knocking down the grasses first and also keep debris out of the ATV engine/radiator? Just a thought.

the price would be around 2200.00+shipping, about 2400 total with shipping. I bought two, using one and looking to sell the other. I can only get a minimum of 5 at a time:eek:, the original shipment was for a product trial, and had to order at least 2, so was trying to find out if people were interested in these mowers.

Do you have any ordering information? Is this sold in the US?

I am interested. I have been looking for a while and can't seem to find any.
