It's hard for me to imagine the Kubota having problems getting stuck, unless it is some seriously bad stuff! The ground pressure should be close to 1 psi., where a human's average is 7 or 8 psi (from memory, but the figures should be close). That's why a poster mentioned walking in crotch deep snow and riding across it sinking only 6"s.

The RTV has power steering, so this should work well with the tracks.

Wow....That is an awesome sounding rig. The future of 2x2 design? I guess time will tell. Knowing Mattracks prices, I'm sure it will be 20K or more. What a machine though. They should have put a 1000cc in there :)

I got the tracks on my Big Boss yesterday. The thing is a tank! Here's a few pics, and one of the local snowmobile clubs S10 with tracks.

I got the tracks on my Big Boss yesterday. The thing is a tank! Here's a few pics, and one of the local snowmobile clubs S10 with tracks.

What kind of tracks you runnin? They look like Argo tracks? How is it in the snow? We need pics :D

They are Polaris tracks. I did about 20 miles of grooming tonight, but the camera was too cold to take pics. I'll try again tomorrow.

As for the ride, on fresh snow it goes anywhere, on hard packed trails it's like riding in July, but smoother. On fresh groomed trails she's a little squirrely, but goes good. Hard turns it does suprisingly well, perhaps a hair better than on dry dirt. Helps to lean forward in a hard turn, then the front grab and it cuts right around.

Putting them on is a major PITA. Can't understate that enough. Once on they are well worth the time and $$.

That's good to hear AT. I bought a set of Polaris Prospector Pro-S tracks couple days ago. They made some nice changes last year with bigger sprockets for more speed (not sure I'll need more speed, but it's there). They won't ship until Jan 16th, so I gotta wait. The XP has power steering, so I'm hoping heft won't be much of an issue.

I sold my sled a couple years ago just for some of the same reasons mentioned earlier. It's too difficult to travel and time consuming for a very limited span. Would be fun to have a sled too....but just can't do it. Tracks will make the ATV an unstoppable plow rig for my situation and I'll have something fun for the winter. Yeah they're expensive, but I'm glad I bought them. Life is short. It's not that extravagant a purchase.

I took another UTV out a couple weeks ago, just to be sure.....took two actually and wasn't convinced (Ranger and RZR.. Rhino earlier). Too much plastic and internal noise (so many squeeks and rattles) and too little HP for the size IMO. The tracks are twice the price too. They're just not for me at this point in my life. I'll put a tall windshield and hand/thumb/seat warmers on the ATV and enjoy the openness. I like the upright position and the maneuverability of an ATV. -Also can't ride a UTV on some some trials in the summer....too wide. A 1000cc Ranger would be pretty fun. Maybe sometime in the future when they mature some more and gain acceptance on the trails.

They make tracks for mine that are similar to the Mattracks type, for front and rear. The rear incorporate both axles into one track assembly. Looks neat, but the cost I'm sure is prohibitive. I'll get some studded diamond chains for the front, and like you say, add a windshield and hand warmer and with my custom 2-up seat, the wife and I can ride anywhere.
