Years ago, i picked up 2 very old oil dispensers like the one pictured here. I got both, on a pallet with 1 full of about 30 gallons of 30wt oil. Got both for $50 plus auction markup.

They were slightly rusted, but i used the oil in my utility truck, which burned oil, until they were empty. Then i had them fine sand blasted by my friend and i repainted them. I sold them on ebay for $400 plus shipping. The guy that bought them refinished them to look like new, including reproduction labels. He sold them for more $$$. Those were the days of good priced auctions. Like getting a non running 2400 w coleman generator for $20, and getting it running for the cost of a new carburetor and fuel bowl. I got that over 30 years ago. Its still in my shop, but not currently running. Someday ill repair it and sale it.

I just went to one last week. I'm looking for a roller to compact my road that we just put millings on. There were a few there , that imo sold for stupid money. I don't know that market well, but they had 2 cat rollers.. vibration on drum. About 36" wide or so. One had 5600 hours, the other had 4800. Both looked well used. Dents in the drums. Broken body panels, loose or zip tied parts. One had the air filter cover off.. maybe starting it with starter fluid.. they bid up to 6500.00 , plus 10% buyers fee and 6.25% sales tax that's just too much not knowing for certain what you are getting.

I will confess, I did buy a rifle at an estate sale not far from here. I bought a never fired Husquvarna built, Smith and Wesson branded 308 bolt gun in unfired condition (cosmoline in the barrel and action) for 150 bucks and worth 3 times that. That rifle is not only a tacjdriver but is extremely rare and very desireable to any vintage firearm collector.

Husky only built under 500 of them for Smith and they just don't exist today in pristine condition and it shoots light out as well.

It's a beautiful rifle...
Nice rifle. Never heard of a Husquvarna rifle.

Nice rifle. Never heard of a Husquvarna rifle.
Husky don't just build chainsaws. Been building arms for decades. The one I have sports a Paul Mauser single claw extractor and an engine turned bolt and it has the smoothest raceways of any bolt gun I own. I did have to rework the trigger as it was typical of an early 60's trigger as in a bit gritty and lots of pre travel.

It's a shooter but I'd never take it hunting simply because the furniture is wood and wood and I don't get along well on hunts. I prefer a snot stock as in carbon fiber. One, it's lighter and two, it's not effected by weather or humidity.

Only thing I added was the buttstock cushion as it recoils pretty hard and I'm a puss.

Here is a print at 423 yards... 185 Bergers jumped as far as I can jump them and still load them in the chamber. Not bad for an antique.

Picked up the spreader today. Out the door, was $12.09, with the PTO shaft. Hopper is mostly OK, but the metering gate is rust frozen shut. Sprayed it down with PB blaster to soak.

So, I didn't know if this auction yard would load your vehicle, I know some places have gotten weird about that, so I took my 18 y/o son with me. While we were waiting on their forklift guy to find the spreader we looked at the Nissian Frontier that sold for $2000, and bith agreed it was a decent deal, but the truck was worse than the pictures showed, drivers side front door window was broken, and tail gate was deformed. Also glanced at a 5.7L AWD charger, ex Super Trooper car, but it would need to sell for near scrap, 200k miles, cop car, and on top of that, trooper, not real cop, so it's all idle, with the occasional high speed max rev. There was an Isuzu crew cab, 5.2L, dump truck, that I should have watched the bidding on.

Is nobody going to point out that daisywheel printer? With carbon paper!

I'd buy THAT at an auction. I can just hear that old girl printing.

Memories. . .

At a recent local auction were a bunch of those Chinese excavators. Lotsa tiny ones and only 3 that had Kubota diesel engines, and even they weren't that big. Anyway, I decided not to bid and boy was I glad. My son won an auction for a bunch of lumber so we drove to the site with a big trailer and while waiting for it to be loaded I saw folks driving those tiny excavators to their trailers. Those things rocked and rolled and shook the heck out of the operators while driving across the muddy lot. They would have been murder on my back to use. Plus they were so rinky dink the way they moved I think they would be very hard to use. I guess I'm spoiled by my old Case 580CK. At least it's stable. And as big as it is the hoe still drags it around.

I got the PTO shaft free'd up this morning, and the metering gate. Loaded about 2 Cubic Feet of sand, and test ran the spreader. It was missing one of spreader "arms", and another one is basically rusted away, so I need to get two of those. I'm guessing it's called an impeller? There is also a maybe golf ball sized hole between the two gates. Going to try to patch that hole as well.
