Auto Darkening Helmets. Is there a difference?

Do you guys have LWSs that let you try their hoods out in the store?

We have four LWS in town and you can’t even strike an arc in one.

Exactly the opposite of my experience. First bought the HF cheapo. First AD helmet I ever tried. I think it must have been defective so I returned it and bought the cheapest Miller. Much better.

But my HF helmet has the flame decals on it.
Gotta wonder if it's just the clean glass that makes it seem better.

I removed the flames on mine. Way too hot in the summer.

Another thing to consider is scratches on the outer lens cover impeding vision.

I’ll use it on the cover just to prolong its usefulness.

Heck the protective 'cover' is merely a clear plastic. Lots of sources for that material.
My el cheapo even provided me spares.

Correct but nothing wrong with keeping them clean or scratch free rather than bitching about not being able to see.

I might have bought the wrong color flames... IIRC, there was a choice of red or blue. :laughing:
