Auto tires instead of tractor tires?

/ Auto tires instead of tractor tires? #11
My 574 has 235/85r16 tires on it and they have been on it for 10-15 years now.
We ran a lot of car tires on the farm for many years on wagons and tractor fronts.
Same here but only on pulled implements. Less expensive than ag tires.

Thanks everyone for your speedy and well thought out replies. I didn't consider the weight thing but now, after considering it, I don't think weight will be a problem because, after all, my tractor only weighs 2000 lbs. But just to be sure I looked for the same tires used for VW Bugs, because that's the same tire size my tractor would use. And even cheap tires had 1200 lb. max load ratings. So the two tires should be able to support the whole tractor. Granted, the FEL could add maybe 1000 lbs. load. Though I don't think I have ever had that kind of a load in the FEL if it was loaded with 1000 lbs. of rock I don't think there would be over 2400 lbs at the front tires. I can see how the steering may not be as positive sometimes but I don't think it will be a problem. So, if cheap car tires will fit I'm gonna get 'em. My neighbor even has a tire machine so mounting is free.
Thanks,
Eric
