Well, I have been following all kinds of threads on automatic chute rotation and discharge and here is my plan. Since Massey wants about $800.00 for the kits I went to the local junkyard and pulled a window motor out of an old Buick $10.00. stopped at an electric salvage place and got a couple of on-off-on switches $2.00 for both, Ordered the connection bracket from Massey to mount the window motor $31.00 (lines up perfectly:D), ordered a 12V linear actuator with a 4" throw online with attachment bracket $87.00 (most expensive item:rolleyes:) and wire I got $00.00. ;) Lemme See.

Window Motor $10.00
Switches 2.00
Conn. Bkt. 31.00
Lin. Actuator 87.00
Wire Etc. 00.00

Total $130.00

Est. Savings $670.00

OOPS! I have to pick up a can of spray paint:eek: There goes another $5.00 out the window!

I guess I picked the wrong time of year for this post! Snow is melting fast (thank god). The reason I haven't posted the pictures yet is, I have all my parts and I am in the process of installing and fine tuning them. I am currently jobless thanks to my job going overseas to Czang Zhou in China (go figure). So my wife would prefer I look for a job and not spend much time improving my tractor:( She'll change her tune when the garden needs to be turned over!

Any chance you could share the source and part number of that linear actuator?

Sure! "BURDEN SALES SURPLUS CENTER" IT HAS THE "3.93" STROKE PN 5-1577-4 WHICH TRANSITIONS INTO A FULL STROKE OF THE CHUTE DEFLECTOR. TOOK IT ALL APART TODAY SANDED AND REPAINTED THE CHUTE, NOW I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WINTER!:D

Come on, bobzap-- doncha miss those wire ties and the cute little colored wires hanging out??:D

Mine came with the MF set-up as a package.

I like yours better.

Sorry about the job, man--that's gotta be tough. Hope you find something soon.

Very nicely done. Your wife is right, you should make kits. I really like your plug in. The knucklehead at the MF dealer hardwired the snowblower chute deflector wiring. Imagine my surprise when I went to take it off.

bobzap, that looks as good (if not better) as any factory set-up! :)

Yes, very nice. I don't have a deflector (yet) but my hydraulic rotation is the most confounded contraption I've seen lately. They took off the crank handle assembly and bolted on what looks like about a third of a wagon wheel with teeth on the circumference. A hydraulic cylinder is connected about two inches from the pivot point of the wheel, thus converting linear movement into circular movement.
It works fine, it just looks pretty goofy. When I figure out a new rig and get it built, at least I'll have some cool parts to build something else with.

Bobzap-- YES! Make the kit(s)! sounds like you'd be able to offer substantial savings as well as a set-up that looks great. (Bet it could be easily modified to fit other SCUTs, too!) If I didn't already have one, I'd snap it up in a NY minute!

Wait a minute.... if mine ever breaks....

Bob, great job and your wife is correct. I don't own a snowblower but if I did I would certainly buy your product.
