Auxiliary Hydraulics Modification for 422/425

hmm, looks like a great idea, but it would cost about $450 to change out the couplers on the attachments that I have now. I think I will take a pass on this modification.

Am I the only one, who every time I am out in the garden or the woods working, think "if only I had that extra PT attachment, I would be able to do this in a heartbeat". So I start pondering dropping $1500 for an attachment that I will use once a year for a couple of hours...

I usually wear gloves when I operate the tractor and have no problems with my connectors. One time I didn't have gloves on and disconnected the mower.... YIKES!!!! I burned my fingers. Since then, I went back to gloves.

I do the same thing...even dream up projects that are not on my "to do list" which will require an additional attachment. A local xmas tree farmer is contemplating a PT purchase and immediatly more attachments for me ran thru my mind to cut down on shipping. Probem is I'll have to build another storage shed for the additional attachments.....yet another project!

Question on flat face couplers - I can't seem to find them in 1/4 inch with the change under pressure option. Do you know if they exist or are they only for the larger applications?

Bob

Try this site, They are not cheap. A smart friend once told me to always use a coupler one size up when using quick disconnect. The reason is that the orifice for the fluid is smaller than the ID of the line. Therefore, if you are going to use quick disconnects on a 1/4 line, use 3/8 quick disconnects and you should maintain the flow. If you look at the coupler, you will see what I am talking about.

In the vein of keeping it all in one place, I compiled this list from surpluscenter.com. I think these are the right parts. Plus it includes 1 male quick connect, which you might need if you want to change to male/female on a mini hoe or 4n1. I'm not sure if the male QC below is the correct one, it's kind of a guess.

Bob, would you mind verifying if this looks kinda right? I'm not holding you to it or anything ;)

Oops, In my last post, I said to get a male QC, but I think you'd need a female. Anyway, this list will supply 1 complete coupler...

Tim,

I'm a bit confused here. Why would you need a Quick Coupler at all (either male or female), if you are plumbing it the way that BobRip did? He permanently connected the hoses to the QA circuit, unless I'm mistaken, and reused the Quick Connects that are originally on the tractor for use with the attachments requiring the Aux PTO.

Am I missing something here?
