I am seriously thinking about it. I seem to have a great deal of difficulty when changing from one implement to another when needing to change connectors so your modification would seem to make a lot of sense. I may first try to find flat face change under pressure connectors but having done some research I am not having much luck finding them in the 1/4 inch size.

My warranty expires in a few months then I can get serious.

Thanks for the reference. I see they carry a series 71 dry break coupling which achieves half of what I am looking for and looking at the Snap Tite web page I see that Snap Tite has a Series 74 coupling that is flat face but also connect under pressure; however I have not been able to find a source for the Series 74 coupler and don't know if it comes in the 1/4 inch size. I have a few more months to look before I feel ready to make modifications.

Thanks again for the reference which is now marked as a favorite for easy return to the site.

I am still using this modification and am very pleased with it, so I thought I would bring it to the top. Try it, you'll like it.

Bringing this back to the top...

Since I have my PT home for the summer in Massachusetts, I'm seriously considering this mod, in addition to changing the attachments to use one male and one female coupler, so I can keep them coupled and clean when not on the PT.

Bob, are you still pleased with this mod, now that you've used it another year?

I did the changing to one male and one female thing, and that was definitely worth it. As you mentioned, it helps keep them much cleaner and is better overall.

Kent, All of my attachments have the male and female ends, and I attach them together when ever I remove them from the PT. Some of the hydraulic motors have a case drain, it is a female fitting.

On the pt400 series, the large attachments that use the main PTO like the mower deck and brush hog, have male and female fittings. However, smaller attachments that use the auxillary PTO, like the quick attach system, the power angle snow plow, the grapple buckets have two same sex fittings. Kind of weird, if you ask me. It is very easy to hook up differently each time and you cannot hook them together when not in use.

What do you think the odds would be that all the attachments would have the same sex ends on the same side of the system? One more QC thing to look out for.

I don't use my aux hydro circuit other for the lock mechanism but if i did i would probably change mine over to male/female.

David, One can make a male to male or female to female adapter to connect two hoses together.

It would be better to be able to connect the hoses the correct way the first time, and every time, using the male and female connections. It is easy correct the situation.
