Auxillary fuel tank for my generator

Fuel leaks are a terrible thing. I have contemplated this issue. I am currently designing a fuel tank for a Diesel set. Based on your OP, I might just add another port to the tank, low down. I would probably just have a valve on each tank and quick disconnects. Let the tanks simply equalize in level. Better than pumps and valves.

However, just to run low loads, a small Diesel really won't go through much fuel. My Onan Quiet Diesel 7.5, Inverter set is said to use 1/2 liter an hour, no load, 1.9 Half Load and 3.6 liter an hour full load. That is not much fuel to have on hand before bed! I am putting in a float switch and alarm at some lower level, so I don't have to be watching the fuel gauge.

Sorry, now re-reading the post, not sure if you are talking diesel.

I think OP is gas. But...

I've got a 6 gallon marine fuel tank setup for my genset. Quick disconnects work nicely for popping off the lines: moving around 6 gallons of fuel, however, is a bit of a pain, though I don't lift it much, just slide it off of the back of my UTV's bed).

I'm struggling to find a quality, diesel-rated, primer bulb. I'd replaced the one that was on this when I got it (along with the fuel lines) and it lasted less than two years (I think).

Very nice. Very clean and basic, before ONAN started making horribly complicated sets. I think I posted about that a while ago. Looking for quick connects for my Diesel project. Complicates things that you need a return.

Now just in the process of drawing out my fuel tank to give to a friend to put on cad and have laser cut. Could have been avoided if I could have used a portable tank.

Waerblasted somewhat corroded (GARBAGE POWDERCOAT) (as seen below) gen base on the weekend.

Fuel Tank will go on end. 36" deep to accomodate that fuel gauge. Low fuel float switch somewhere near the bottom to sound an alarm.

AND, now adding another external fuel filter. Not convinced the internal tiny filter without water seperation is a great idea.
