AVerage annual use?

Chip,
I got my Kama last August and have just under 135 hrs on it already. I've still got some major road work to do from a washout. This summer I'll start with site prep for the new house and barn. I anticipate 200 hrs this first year, about 100-150hrs the 2nd and then average around 70-80 hrs/yr after that.
Now if you count ALL the time I spend with the tractor... tinkering with it...service, etc., or just looking at it, double it.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like about 450/yr. Bought new at Xmas'04, just passed 600 hrs last week. No plans to slow down, may have to buy more property /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My tractor will turn 3 on June 30th. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif At this point I'm about 490 hrs. So by the time that the 3 rolls around I'll probably be around 525 so I'll say about 175 hrs. per year.

My tractor services 22 acres. I just bought the land a year ago and the tractor is coming up on its first anniversary. I have 59 hours on it. However, I live 2 hours drive from my property. When I retire and move to the property my usage will spike up quite a bit. I have the life cycle of the landownership, versus the lifecycle of the tractor ownership, versus my life cycle of working versus being retired. My usage in the next five years will be all over the map. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that I love the seat time that being a tree farmer gives me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I do about 125 hours per year. I'm on 6 acres. I don't mow with the tractor.

Thanks for all the replys. I was just courious as I have seen figures thrown out but not seen them published. So I thougt a quick survey here would be fairly accurate. Some warranties have limits for example 1000 hours in 3 years and I am courious how many homeowners would realistically get there. Looks like it is more htan enough for most. I would guess if I avereraged it out, my customers would probably put about 100 hours a year, maybe a bit less...

In the 16 years I owned a JD755 I averaged around 80 hours per year. Typically 60 hours April through October and 20 hours November through March (strictly for snow removal). Now that the majority of land clearing, fence making, barn building, etc. chores are done I'll probably average around 60 hours per year with my JD 4310.

Avg is around 100 hrs a yr. Mostly finish mowing 2.5 acres 7 months out of a yr.

Turns out that today, April 25, is my BX's 3rd birthday with me. I'm about 6 or so hours under 700. I live on 6 acres. My usage would not be quite this high except I've spent a bundle of hours cleaning up after Katrina. That, plus I've been retired for a year & a half, makes for more usage.

Maybe the best toy I've ever had.

This is an interesting topic.

In my earlier years I did a lot of flying and owned a few aircraft, generally quite active in COPA and other aviation events.

It was considered that the average aircraft owner flew his plane on average 60 hrs a year!

Since, by law, aircraft logs are kept and annual inspections require submitting the data the info is quite accurate.

All this is to say that tractors certainlly provide more bang for your dollars spent, and for sure cost a heck of a lot less to maintain.
Guess we should not complain of prices of repair parts or accessories.

As you see, I traded my plane for a tractor! LOL
But try a 7 ton bulldozer in virgin forest for real fun! Virtually nothing to stop you.

Reading the new responses made me think about cost/hr. I paid $16, 681 for my tractor, loader and backhoe plus box blade. I have about 400 hours.

Had I had to pay by the hour for someone to do the work, let's just say a reasonable $50/hr, I would have paid out $20,000 thus far.

With tax, I paid just over $18K so the tractor has cost me about $45/hour so far.

Many of those hours were on the backhoe, and I think I can easily say the tractor and equipment have paid for themselves.
Sorry, this is off topic, but bluechip stated he's pretty well gotten the answer he wanted.

200hrs/yr on the Case in the 6 months per year I'm home. The gardener SuperC has pretty much retired. Maybe 40hrs on the lawnmower L175 (the wife's tractor).
