I'm using the rear PTO on my tractor for the first time drilling post holes with a lienbach PHD. The PTO shifter gets locked up and will not disengage. I have been able to disengage the PTO by shutting down the engine(but that doesn't always work), Putting the tractor in gear and moving forward and backward, ( again doesn't always work). My question is: is this common or should I expect the problem will get worse until the pto will not disengage at all?

Does it do this only with the PHD on or will it also act this way when there is implement attached to the PTO?

Hi EGON, This is the first time I've actually used the PTO. I tested it a couple of times with nothing attached and it worked fine shifting between rear to neutral and mid/rear combo to neutral.

Sounds like all will be okay. Maybe with the attachment on the gears have to be moved slightly before it engages smoothly. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On my B7300 the PTO lever slides easily from the engaged position unless there is a heavy load on it. I presume you are depressing the clutch when trying to release it? I often slide mine from engaged to neutral when using my brush hog, and as long as the blades are completely unloaded I don't need to use my clutch. But if they aren't, I get some resistance (and then use the clutch).
