yooperdave- The backhoe is very easy but the mower deck I have a hard time with. My old JD was very easy. It is just the collar on the shaft that is a Bi*ch! The collar that locks does not stay "open" when pushing onto shaft. With time I assume...

Yes the BX can have a MM.

Side note : I bought my BX22 from Emerich Sales in NY. The sales guy and manager Jim was great! No pressure and he is not a typical sales guy. Very nice. I still deal with him for ANY service issues or parts I might need. He is worth the 1.2 hour ride (for me), period

I also looked at Carver and his prices were, well, off the scale! Way high and I did not feel in the emails that he really cared to sell them. Take it or leave it attitude. So I would not recommend them to anyone; but Emerich sales are worth their weight in gold!!!!!

That is my experience so I will step on my soap box /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mike - I keep the collar nice and lubed to keep the $!#&*^ to a minimum /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I also try to not turn the driveshaft so typically it slides right back on when remounting /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Probably 1 in 10 times I get pissed /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif at it and wish I had another BX so I wouldn't need to take the mower off /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Chuck

I was quoted $12,685 for a BX2200, FEL, 60" mmm and 48" boxblade. I don't think that's unreasonable. I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and prices are a little high. From what I've seen, Carver's has the best prices. The only problem is you don't establish a relationship with your local dealer for future support. I would print out the price from Carver and bring it with you for your negotiations. It can't hurt.

I don't think that's a bad price at all for this area; dealing with Zimmerer, I assume? I've only visited with them in the past, but I've heard they have very good service at all their locations.

If you move the PTO selector to REAR only this allows the MID to freely spin making installation much easier. It never takes me more than 15 seconds to connect the shaft. Try it, you'll like it.

Bird,
My next door neighbor works at the ZK in Denton, so we tried to work out the "brother-in-law" discount. The BX's are in such high demand, that the pricing is pretty ridgid. I think we did alright though, I wish they'd have thrown in the 50 hour service though. The wife is already talking about taking some of my seat time.

Based on my pricing, I am leaning more towards a Power Trac 425 with a whole bunch of options /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif!!

Even with the delivery, it would still be $1,000 less than my little BX 2200.

( 50 HOUR SERVICE $475 FOR EITHER TRACTOR

What do you think of these prices?)

The prices aren't bad, I would think harder about the B7500 with a 60"MMM and the bigger loader, given the size of your property. Over the past few years I've owned a BX1800, BX2200 and now a B7500. Both of the BX's were great little tractors, I had a 60"MMM on all three and have used a 48" KK rotary cutter and a 52" snow blower, both BX's handled eveything just great, the B7500 just seems to do the job a little easier. I wouldn't pay the dealer $450 for the 50 hour service thats very steep, my dealer does the 50 hour service for free at my place.

The "little" tractor is for yard work around my farm, landscaping, and grass mowing at a few close by locations.

I still plan on getting a 60 hp ag tractor some time in the next year or two for field work and bigger jobs around the farm.

I should have my pole barn erected within the next month to provide a good home for the implements.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definately try that! Connecting the shaft is the only part of the job that I don't care for. Maybe this will help! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
