I have a Woods 6500 backhoe on my B7500 and the boom will always drop a bit when I am using the tractor for other than BH work. It will drop when it is parked with the engine off and I am working on a project and it will do the same with the engine running and the tractor working without the BH being used, ie: FEL work . It would probably drop when parked for the night but I always lower the boom and bucket to the ground then.

My question is; is this normal? It,the boom, (not the dipper or bucket they hold fast in position) drops about six inches. I have now started putting the boom transport lock in position when not using the BH.

BTW; I cannot see any hydraulic leaks.

Nope, not normal unless you have like 400+ hours of use on it.

oh, you have an internal leak I would bet. My BX22 had two and they fixed the boom. They also fixed my stablizer but it did not work. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

So I want them to replace the entire hyd piston on the stablizer. Only 3 months old...

Is the boom the portion of the backhoe that is closest to the tractor ? I have a bx22 with about 25 hrs on it and the boom also drops down when I am operating the loader or the tractor is stored for a couple of days ? This is not normal ?
I didn't think It should leak down on a new tractor David /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This is normal based on my experience with the B21 for the boom to drop about 1" per hour when operating just the FEL.

You did not state if it takes 1 hr or 6 hrs to drop 6" but if it drops 2-3" in an hour or less then some leakage in the valving is possible. Do you have the PTO and tank setup or use the tractor hyd?

Dave, yes the boom is the part of the backhoe that is closest to the tractor and goes toward and away from the tractor (in line with tractor). My boom seal just got fixed and he said I should pin it when using the front laoder. So I will pin it when on tractor but not used. My stablizer bar still drop like from the highest point to the floor in 6 days. That is not to good.

I agree you have a problem with the stabilizer. Mine drop 1/2" in a week. Also when I have the BH off for the winter I run a nylon strap through the pads to hold the stabilizers up, since they tended to leak down and get in the way.

My backhoe drops a bit also over a period of time. I guess I will have to time it. Is there a point where you should get with the dealer and have it repaired? I just thought it was normal. I only have 25 hours on my BX22.
