I have 2 55w lamps, one front and one rear-facing; 12amps total, plus what happens when I turn on headlights? Maybe I should change out the bulbs for 35w?

You'll probably be fine, I ran like that for a year. especially if you are only running everything on for a short while...An hour or so...

If you are running the tractor and your battery light comes on..then shut off the work lights and let the dyno recharge the battery...

I don't believe you need to swap out your 55W bulbs for 35W. I've been running the same lighting configuration as you for many years on my stock dyno. I come up with slightly different numbers for amperage draw from a 55W light bulb:

I (Amperage - also known as Current)
VA (Volt Amp - also known as Watt)
V (Volt)
Formula to Use:
I = VA / V

55/12 = 4.5833333 1 light

or
110/12 = 9.166666 2 lights

Call it 9.2A plus whatever the fronts draw.

Now granted I'm sure we're VERY close to capacity for the stock dyno. but I've run for hours at night with all lights lit and never had any battery run down issues.
