I am looking at a B1550HST. On tractor data the 1550 is rated at 17 gross and 14 pto. My F2100 has the exact same engine (D850) and it is rated at 21hp. I went on Kubota's web site and checked and the pistons, cylinder head ,injection pump and injectors are the same for each tractor. Where is the HP difference coming from. Or are they tested differently. The B1550 has a 60" deck and so does my F2100. I am wondering if the B1550 will be under powered compared to the F2100.

I saw the same thing with the engine in my BX2670 and the engine in the B2320. After a whole lotta looking, I finally found the difference. The BX is governed at 3200RPM, the B at 2800RPM. Exact same engine, but one is run slower. I also noticed the same engine is something like 15HP when it's governed to 1800 RPM in a generator. Looking at a horsepower graph for this engine, a D1005 by the way, confirms the different power ratings at different speeds. The maximum allowed RPM, according to a Kubota specification site, for my engine is 3,800RPM, so they aren't straining it in one bit in most of their applications.

Thats right! It all has to do with the max RPM's that the engine is set to have and also the displacement that the engine has.
