Kubota B2320 HST with LA 364 FEL
Any B2320/2620/2920 owners performed the initial 50 hour service on their machine? I noticed that the HST filter gets changed, but the hydraulic filter is not changed until 400 hours. It was my understanding that the hyd. And HST fluid are one in the same, so why would'nt the hyd filter get changed as well? I don't think I would go bankrupt for another $5-$20 filter (not sure of price) Anybody else have any input on this? Thanks in advance.

When I did my 2009 B3030, the dealer told me to change all filters, but not to bother with the hydraulic fluid until 3-400 hours. So that's what I did. I just topped off what I lost with SUDT2. Engine & transmission oils were changed using Messick's B instructions.

When I look at the Messicks hyperlink you listed, it says there are two transmission filters, one on each side. I have two filters as well, but thought the one on the right(sitting in seat) was the hyd filter. Both filters look the same diameter, but slightly different lengths?

Or is the hyd "filter" actually the strainer that they mentioned?

my tractor is a gear tranny the strainer is not the tranny filter the filter is behind the strainer you can see it in the picture the strainer is a nut you have to take out infront of the filter right up frome the steering rod

So the hyd filter is a strainer and not an actual spin on type filter?

I have a B2920 with 110 hrs. At 50 hours I replaced both the HST and hydraulic filters. They are both spin-on filters but different part numbers. Hydraulic fluid and front axle fluid were completely replaced with UDT2. Cheap insurance in my opinion.

You just dropped a ton of money on a brand new tractor. Why would you question whether or not to change a filter. Or better yet, why would you change a filter and leave the oil? Relative to the price of your investment, a COMPLETE oil and filter change is chump change - do it.

I am only questioning the different service intervals listed in the manual and trying to determine the correct location of the filters. There are two spin on filters and a strainer mentioned. I don't see the need to replace a strainer when it can be removed and cleaned. Just looking for clarification with no relevance to $$. I am a diesel mechanic by trade, but this is my first tractor and have full intentions on doing the correct maintenance.

It's my understanding that the newer B models don't have a strainer like the 2009 BX2660 that I used to own. And I think that the Messicks link is an older model B. I followed the Kubota schedule and just changed the one HST filter at the 50 hour interval. But heck, I'm not a mechanic expert.

Mac, I have a B2320 ( + 300 hrs ) and my manual makes no mention of a strainer of any kind . Where did you see reference to a strainer ? Be aware that Kubota changed filter recommendations on the B2320 depending on what year you have . I have read other posts related to strainers, but those seem to deal with the BX 's .

Anyway At 50 hrs I changed all filters figuring what could it hurt except my wallet a bit .

I noticed the difference as well and will change both when I do my 50 hr service. The following was supplied by Messicks yesterday because I was unsure what goes where....."Sitting in the seat facing forward, you would need to install this HHK70-14070 filter on the left side". Guess I am figuring that the other goes on the right side. I am also going to spend a few bucks and change out the tranny fluid to Super UDT2 as well as go synthetic for the engine oil. Like was said before, after spending the big bucks for the tractor why cheap it out now!

So as I see it.....there is a total of 5 filters and the first 3 mentioned need changed at 50 hours... 1 HST filter, 1 Hyd filter, 1 eng oil filter, 1 air filter, and 1 fuel filter? Does this seem to be correct?

That is correct.
I did complete replacement of hydraulic fluid and front axle also.
Went to Shell T6 engine oil.
Grease at every fuel fill-up!

It's been awhile and I no longer have the tractor, but I'm pretty sure I changed all filters, engine & transmission oils. I told the parts guy to give me every oil filter on the tractor and I changed them all.
As far as the poster questioning changing they hydraulic filter but not oil - it was at the suggestion of the dealership's owner. I took him at his word, as I've known him about 25 years.

I just did my 50 hour service today on my B2920. These are all the filters you need. The difference in the two transmission filters are: 1 is a Suction Filter and the other is a Return Filter. I also drained and replaced the transmission/hydraulic fluid.
