What a difference a week makes...
Was in Brenham over the weekend with the misses and spotted a Kubota dealer, so I stopped in to look at the
B2320. While I had priced the tractor online and had done my research there, I had not had a chance to actually see a
B2320 "in person". The dealer was already closed for the day, but they had quite a few tractors in the yard. It took a bit, but I finally spotted one in the very back next to the shop. The tractor was a bit smaller than I thought it would be - reminding me more of my Cub Cadet than our
L3130. Looking at the 3pt and the other "tractor" features on the
B2320 gave me a bit of a pause. There are jobs I ask my
L3130 to do that sometimes border on abuse, which made me realize the
B2320 might not fare well with me in the driver's seat.
The wife called me over to look at another one she had found that was under the front entrance patio cover. It was sitting next to a BX series and they both seemed small. However, also on the front porch were several zero turn mowers and one caught my eye - it was HUGE! The unit was a ZD326 with the 60" commercial deck. I swear the ZD326 looked larger than the
B2320! At any rate, I was impressed - so much so that the wife and I had a rather long discussion about exactly how we were going to use the
B2320 and what - if any - extra chores it might be able to do inside the vineyard. After a bit I think we both realized the
B2320 was never going to do anything beyond mowing as our other tractors would always be the preferred tools for the rough stuff. So, now I was looking at $16,130 MSRP for a
B2320 "mower" or $14,850 MSRP for the ZD326. I already had a price quote of $14,695 for the
B2320 HST, but the ZD326 was marked $12,900. Which meant the ZD326 was close to $2k less - and that was before I gave "my guy" a shot at a quote.
On Monday I drove out to the Kubota dealer in Victoria to see if they had a ZD326 in stock and if they could price match the one in Brenham. Unfortunately, all they had were gas units - no diesel at all, but they did give me a good price quote on one if I was willing to wait until stock came in. Waiting has never been my strong suit, so I asked if he could find one at Kubota he could order or one at another dealer he could transfer. We did some paperwork, he made some calls, and the next thing I knew I had pulled the trigger on the ZD326 with 60" deck. The one he found was at another dealer, so I'll need to wait a bit after all, but it should be here late this week. Looking forward to putting that puppy on the trailer and bringing it home!
