B2320 starts only with jump - stalls out when disconnected from jumper battery

B2320, 70 hours, 4 years old, no history of battery issues, battery cables are clean and tight.

B2320 wouldn't start, no power, not even turn signal or emergency flashers would come on. Battery voltage measure at 11.4 V. Jumped battery with car battery, B2320 started up easily the first two tries, but each time when I disconnected jumper battery, the B2320 stalled out immediately. Couldn't get it to start again or turn over, just the starter would click-click-click. The "hydrometer window" on battery reads clear, which indicates replace battery.

I have always used BatteryMinder Plus to condition/maintain my battery when not in use, so I'm a bit surprised to be having issues. I did drop the BatteryMinder on the floor once, so possibly I damaged it and fried my battery? I'm also concerned about the alternator, since the tractor would not run with the jumper battery disconnected.

Thought I would see if anyone has any suggestions before I purchase a new battery. Thank you

Ace I had the identical problem on my B2320 . Ultimately I took the battery to an auto supply store and had it tested . Battery was bad as in Un-chargeable worn out bad . And it was not old . Bought new and no problems since . That was about 3 years ago . Still on same bought battery . I think it has something to do with battery giving a good voltage reading with no load, but in every other way worn out . Others will know about the electrical terminology .

I suggest you have it fully tested .

11.4 volts is too low. It only takes .3 -.4 volt drop to discombobulate tractor electrics.

Make sure your clamps are clean and bright on the INSIDE not just the outside.

It is 95% certain you need to replace existing battery with a new one.

If the shutdown solenoid does not get enough voltage it won't open to let it run. New battery time!

Will get it tested out, but it does seem I will likely be getting a new battery. Thanks bandaid, jeff, sailor.

UPDATE:

It was indeed the battery. Tried to charge it, but wouldn't even hold the charge. Installed a new Interstate battery, and it fired right up. So in this case, the little hydrometer window on the stock battery was accurate, that the battery was history. Hope the Interstate will last longer than the stock.

Glad you got it resolved, I don't think 4 years is outrageous for a battery change. It really depends the conditions it gets used under.

70 hours, 4 years. There's your problem right there- lack of use. Batteries work better when used regularly- but 4 years with low/no use still isn't bad. Get a "Battery Tender Junior" they maintain my two Interstate boat batteries, tractor, 4 Toyotas, couple of Dr. mowers, ATV, etc.

I have always used a battery tender/conditioner (BatteryMinder Plus) when the Kubota was parked. As previously mentioned, I dropped my BatteryMinder on the concrete floor once and wonder if I may have damaged it. Am going to get a new one to be on the safe side.
