I'm looking to buy a Kubota compact tractor, 24 horsepower. I've been quoted prices for a B2150,a B2400, and a B2410....each one costing $500 more than the next newest one. One real nice dealer (the one who quoted the B2410) said that he would buy the newest if the difference wasn't greater than $1000. Anyone have any comments about the price or the differences between the tractors. I plan on buying a package including belly mower, box scraper and loader. I know very little about tractors, thus I'm trying to gain knowledge prior to spending all my hard earned cash. Looking forward to your comments. Thanks

You lost me a little bit there with the B2410 twice? Since I have a B2710 and have had a B7100, I say buy the biggest thing you can afford and have room to maneuver. And if I understand what you're saying that dealer told you, I agree with him.

And it's too late in the evening for me to see straight; you didn't list the B2410 twice. I just didn't look at the numbers right/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

The B2400 and B2410 have the same frame and engine (same tractor really). I have a 1998 B2400. Is the B2400 you are considering, new??? The B2410 replaced the 2400 a few years back.

If I were in your position, I'd seariously consider the 2410 because it is newer, has full waranty and has not been sitting around like the 2400. The 2410 also has a few subtle changes that really make it better.

The 2410: has a better air box and filter; will accept the new quick attach mount for the front blade and snow blower (same mount for each attachment); slightly different exhaust routing; slightly different rear hydraulic pipe to the 3 pt lift (new model has a different bend near the 3 pt which keeps the pipe from breaking, mine broke at 340 hrs);

I'm not sure if the new 3pt links are on the 2410. The new ones are rectangular sleeves with holes and snap locks. It's really fast and easy to adjust them. The older links are turn buckles which require a wrench and are a bother. Lots of folks here at TBN have replaced the turnbuckles with the newer links. I haven't.

I have the 7610 (which in the no-frills version of the 2410), 60"MMM, FEL and bushhog.

I would recommend that you buy a rear finish mower. I have the 60"MMM and regret it. If the grass is long (cutting more than 1" off the top) it leaves a windrow of grass....very unsightly. You're cutting a 5 foot swath and forcing out a 16" discharge chute.

With a REAR DISCHARGE RFM clippings get spread out over a 3-4 foot wide area.

Further you lose half of your clearence with a MMM which stinks when doing any loader/woods work and removing the MMM is a pain in the posterior (no matter what the dealer tells you.

RFMs are cheaper and serve as a good counterweight for loader work.

If your mower is leaving windrows, try raising or removing the discharge chute.
