I only have hilly terrain. the property is a series of stone push up benches and the short flats between.

Due to this, I tend to move around on the seat quite a bit to stay centered on the controls.

Today while moving soil to fill some low areas, and on several occasions in the recent past, when "flying by the seat of my pants", the engine on the B2601 has momentarily cut out. This does cause a bit of concern, depending on the actual situation. But a dead engine on a steep down hill with a loaded bucket is not a fun situation to even contemplate.
Now, the engine cutting is very brief. A second or two perhaps, but the mind responds much faster.

I'm thinking it is the operator presence switch, but....Then why does the engine not cut when I leave the operator station? That is, when I dismount?
The seat has both an occupancy presence switch (press button) and a seat tilt up switch that comes into play when operating the PTO un-manned.
I'm not sure what "safety feature" I need to investigate, I just would like the engine to stay solid when I'm already doing something that needs all my attention.

The Hurlimann NEVER does this to me. It must be my friend ;-) I should have just purchased turf tires and wheels for that tractor , but the B2601 is so handy. (unless you are wanting to go backwards, the treadle pedal SUCKS!)

Any way, comments on the cutting out?

When you say "Then why does the engine not cut when I leave the operator station?" I'll guess when you leave the station you have put your transmission in N and the parking brake is applied?

If I'm not in my seat I can not start my tractors unless they are in N and the brake is applied.

Simply a statement: a jumper used on the seat presence switch may help determine if that's causing the engine shutdown problem.

The reality is risk of rollover in your hilly topography might be a situation needing it most.

On my BX you can leave the seat as long as you are not pressing on the hydrostat pedal. Parking brake does not need to be applied and it does not have to be in neutral.

So, the seat presence switch is the most likely culprit.

The ROPS up and a fastened seat belt are getting to be my normal mode.

Not sure if this applies to your tractor or not, but on my old kubota BX there were steel bars that acted as a “spring” against the seat keeping it off the safety switch when no weight was applied. Being skinny, I removed one of the bars and that helped. Perhaps there is something similar on yours you can adjust.

Being skinny, I removed one of the bars and that helped. Perhaps there is something similar on yours you can adjust.

I had the seat tipped up for a good four hours while I reduced an old branch pile to chips. (I'm BEAT! it was work!, with a lot of bending over, grabbing, pulling and bunching.)

I did "look" at the seat switch mechanism, but didn't give it the "I need to figure this out" attention to actually do anything. I did consider fixing some small spacer to the structure that comes in contact with the switch, just to push it a bit more...
There may well be other ways.

So far I have never used the seat belt I really don't go very
fast just 3 to 5 miles per hour as I am in no hurry to do any
thing and the property is pretty much flat but there is a slight
slope from the back to the front

Williy, That's about the exact same scenario as the land at my place and I do the same! Seatbelts, PTO shields, and all else are there for a reason - I just don't need to utilize them - all of the time. If and when needed I will/do use them but most often not.
