No need to load the front tires, too much weight on the front axle is not a good thing.

So how does loaded front tires substantially add but insignificant loading to the axles and bearings? Loaded fronts add ground contact force and helps steering and with snow plowing.

Regardless of whether you want more ballast or not, I'd get a ballast box or heavy implement. I wouldn't want loaded tires mowing my lawn. But that's just me. I like the option of taking all the extra weight off.
