B2620 died....

I was just mowing and my 2620 died.

Threw the PTO into neutral, turned the key to restart and zero...not even dash lights.

Checked the seat/kill switch and wires...looked fine. Cycle the key, remove key...doesn't matter...no nothing when the key is turned.

Nothing under the hood appears to be amiss. Has fuel, etc. Apparently something electrical as no dash lights. Wont turn over, etc.

Any ideas??

I had to get my owners manual to FIND the fuse box...I'll take a look.

Fuses ALL ok.

Sight glass full of diesel.

There IS a strange noise from behind the dash...as if something is CYCLING.

Try charging the battery?? May need to be replaced.

Also you could try jump starting it with another battery/vehicle if you don't have a charger. If it is the battery, the next question is why. Old and not taking a charge? Not getting a charge?

Battery started the tractor just fine. NO warning lights on the dash...simply died.

I was thinking of disconnecting a terminal...and reconnecting. Might reset things.

If the alternator wasn't charging the battery Shouldn't I have gotten a warning light or ??
I had also just started it a few minutes before and it started fine.

NOT arguing....I appreciate all the input.

I hooked up the jumper cables and heard a CLICK under the dash. Disconnected jumpers...Cycled key and dash light came on.

Started just fine with the key. !?!?!?! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Any ideas.

Almost sounds like a low voltage cutout relay. I don't always watch my dash lights when in operation as much as I would like. Are you sure there was not a warning light? Snug up or clean ALL connections while you are at it.

Just blew off all the dust and grass clippings....Checked the battery connections and they look fine.

Tomorrow I'll remove the cables , clean and re-install.

Could also be some kind of safety relay problem. If my pedal sticks and I go to start it I get nothing except a faint click in the dash area until I wiggle it back to center then its fine... so maybe something to do with that mechanism if not the battery or low voltage.

Started up normally this morning. I'll see what happens...It never leaves the property so not a huge deal if it dies again.

I'm more annoyed that the call I made to the Dealer YESTERDAY at 1300 has STILL not been returned.

Except that he heard a relay click as soon as he put the jumper cables on. That tells me it is a low voltage cutout. You don't want your electronics or starter motor engaged with too low of a voltage.

Cleaned the battery cables today. Both ends were clean. This girl is a garage queen so she is CLEAN.

She doesn't leave the property so if it dies again and jumping it gets it going...NO big deal.

I'll stop at the Dealers this week and talk to him.
