Yes, I think this is going to be about right for many places I want to work. Maximum size pine is no problem with PTO rpm. Everything looks good so far..

Congrats on the new rig, I haven't been on for a few days and I was reading a post of yours and noticed you were not tractorless.
Are you glad you bought this rather than the BX24? I keep going back and forth but would like to decide soon.
When are you going to get a hoe?
I think I would have bought but I'm a little worried about the economy,my job and the up coming heating season.

Clay, Buying a tractor is a big deal, mostly because most of us could live our lives without one. That makes it hard for many of us to justify the cost, but I can tell you that you will forget those things when they unload the tractor, and you start putting it to use. As you know, I did look at the BX series again, and also one/two sizes larger. I have 5 hours on the new B now, and am comfortable saying that for me it was a better choice. It felt a little tall the first time around my yard, and then it started feeling just right everywhere I took it. Yesterday I was pushing back small clearings, and edges of my field with the RC. The areas were quite small, and anything larger would have been a problem, but the BX would have had both clearance, and hazard problems. (My land has been logged a couple of times, and the area I was in has many half buried pices of log that were put there for floatation during mud season, or were trimmings when they sized the logs before trucking them to the mill. They are hard to see in ferns, and tall grass/bushes and were always a concern for the hydro filter, etc. I have rocks in abundance too!) The B is much more stable, and forgiving on my logging trails, and that is important to me. I used the RC where I would have had to be careful with the BX after exposing all the hazards with a weed whacker. In the morning yesterday I spent a couple hours doing loader work, and found the B to be very smooth, and quiet. Loader response is much better at lower rpm's, and it really made that job fun. Finish mowing with all my obstacles is still a question for me, and I am using the tractor all around my yard to see how it feels for that task before investing in a mmm. I'm also using the RC in some places I don't have to so I can see how I like the idea of a RFM. I will get a box blade for it, and have other implements planned like a single bottom plow. I expect that I will get a backhoe for it too....... maybe soon.

Having said all that, I get the impression that your land is somewhat smoother, and more finished than mine so many of these things may not be as important to you. In practical terms, it comes back to what other's have said right along, if mowing is the priority then get the BX, if tractor stuff is the priority, get the B. Tractor buying though is as much an emotional thing as a practical one, and you will be happiest with the one you really want inside.

Very nice Chuck, As you know I have only good things to say about the B series. I use the lawn tractor for cutting lawns and a brush hog for fields and trails. I don't think I would want to cut my lawn with my B. A MMM cost about the same as a decent lawn tractor with a 50" deck. As you know many of us use this same scenario. Love the chipper, get that tooth bar on her before you bend up that bucket

While the B series (in my case a 3030) may not be totally optimal for grass cutting, it is working well for me.

I have the 72" MMM and can cut nearly 3 acres of "yard" around my house in less than an hour and 15 minutes. You are NOT going to even come remotely close to that kind of speed with a 50" lawn tractor. Previously I was cutting it with a 42" lawn tractor and it took nearly 4 hours.

It's a really expensive lawn mower, but it certainly does a kick-@ss job!!

And I can use it for lots of other things.

Glad to see your 2620 is working out well for you. I had a deal set up on a 2920 before changing my mind and "upsizing" a bit to the 3030.

I would have made the same choice given just a bit more room to work, and fewer obstacles. I almost did actually Hopefully, I will push my cancer into remission, and be around to need to "upgrade" myself! In the meantime, I'm sure that both of us will be having lots of fun doing things we wouldn't dream of attempting without our tractors! I sure am enjoying trying to make room for a bigger one.

I have 8 acres here, and it is mostly open/grass with the occasional tree. I have about 5 or so of it fenced for horses, along with a 36x48 barn. The only real "tight" spot I have is along one line of the property between the fencing and the woods at the property line. I can JUST FIT thru there with my 72" MMM. I can also just fit it under the eaves of the barn in the run-in areas for the horses and thru the gates that we have under the run-in dividing the fields. I occasionally think I should have gone a bit bigger with a Grand L, but I think I would have run into problems in those areas.

As time goes on, I think I am going to realize that for my conditions, the B3030 is "just right", in the same way that you are feeling that way about your 2620 in the woods, etc!

Now, if I could convince the neighbor behind me to sell me a few acres of his woods and pasture that backs up to my property, I might be forced to get a BX24 (in addition to the B3030 of course) to work in the woods!

Well, I've been using the B2620 around the place, and really like it so far. As you can see in the photos, bigger isn't always better. It seems to have enough power for the things I need to do, and enough stability, and clearance to get where I need to do them. The low hood height makes refueling a snap. I have moved the loader lock into the locked position a couple of times when operating sitting sideways to better control rear operations. It is very close to the rear hydro pedal. The loader is plenty strong for this size tractor, and will lift at least one rear (loaded) tire even with the bush hog mounted. Loader control is very smooth, and I have no trouble getting a full bucket of crusher run gravel every time.

Yes, I got pretty wet before I finished playing this morning. It will be too wet to work in my woods for a while now. Guess I'll have to put the chipper back on, and do some trimming along my road frontage, and field edges........ OH DARN!

It's been pretty wet here, too.

Sunday I was out working in the rain and came close to getting stuck a couple times. Interesting how slippery mud and rocks can be...

I finally got my little old chipper up and running a couple days ago, and had a blast taking care of some piles that I had scattered around.

Now the forecast for the next couple of days looks like it will provide a good opportunity for me to break out the grease gun, since I won't be doing much outside until things dry up a bit.

Glad you got the chipper runing Jay! They sure are nice to have, and make short work of all the trimmings that come with having some land. I've got about 10 hours on my tractor now, so I need to do the grease thing, check the front axle lube level, etc. I had to put a couple of new grease fittings on my RC since the ones that came on it were really painted closed. I couldn't quite get five gallons of diesel in this morning when I fueled up, so I'm pretty happy about that too.
