B2620 Usage Questions

Wow buck boost, you really went above and beyond. Thanks for that, gives me a new appreciation for the time people take here to answer the countless questions posted.


So with all this being said, would you....

Go for a B2620, ~200 hours, canopy, BH65 hoe/thumb, non-loaded tires for $18k

or

Step up to a B3030HSDC , ~500 hours with Woods BH80X w/thumb, cab, heat, radio, AC, loaded tires and front mounted blower?

That tractor should work nicely with a 63" blower front or rear...You may want to consider a rear dragger (which you pull as opposed to push)..Front mounts are costlier ( because of extra mounting hardware) and if you are only doing your own 450' driveway, a dragger in conjunction with an FEL save the old back ache causing twisted in the seat operator position.....Front mount with a rear blade is the ideal, but that all depends on how much you want to spend.

I run a 63" front blower with a rear land pride box blade on my B2650HSDC.

I would like to chime in and advise you to consider getting chains for whatever tractor you purchase. I've always said that "In the land of snow and ice, the man with chains is king."
Chains are kinda like fire insurance: you hope you never need em, but if you do, you're sure glad you got em.

So far using an older b2200 and now a b 2620 I have no chains and no problems. I leave the rig in 2wd unless the snow is very deep or the ice is too bad then a quick switch to 4wd solves the problem. Just saying !

LOL, tough decisions! 200 or even 500ish hours is nothing to worry about as far as hours. Focus more on condition, and if proper maintenance has been performed. Things like the loader frame for twisting/diamonding, leaky hoses, underneath, you know, all the usual stuff. Oh, and make sure whichever B machine you get, it has the complete 3pt hitch to go along with it.

Pricing: The 3030 as equipped is prolly a better value. With that out there, that is a still a great value for the 2620 as equipped IMHO. So ask yourself, for the majority of what you want to do, do want to do it in a glass bubble? lol

The stars aligned when I was shopping. And for what I want to do with my 2920, I didn't want a cab or the added size. I also didn't want a floating mid mount mower (b3030,b3200, and some others), I for sure wanted a suspended mid mount mower. The extra 2 pto hp was not enough for me to worry about either. And the little I use my 2920 in the winter, I went with a Milwaukee heated jacket instead lol. I'm not really sure if or how any of this info will apply, but it can't certainly can't hurt to mention it.

Difference between the two:

Other than the obvious size and hp difference, the 3030 has some additional features. Position control for the 3pt, and I'm pretty sure it has telescoping lower links on the 3pt. A seat with armrests lol. There may be a few more. Some people on TBN say that position control is the only way go for three point height control. I have absolutely no qualms with the "quarter inching" valve on the 2x20 series tractors. It takes a little getting used to, but works just fine.

If you will be doing a lot of work in the snow you really should get R1 Ag tires, or at the very least R3 Turf tires. The R4 Industrial tires are useless in the snow on a small tractor like the B-series. Adding chains to any of the above will make it work good however. I was able to make my way through 26" of snow last winter with my B3200 on Ag tires. I like the combo of the loader on the front and a rear blade on the back. Gives the ability to plow off to the side, pile snow, and dig harder into packed snow and ice.

I haven't had issues plowing with R4 tires (loaded), and in fact I plowed in 2WD last year for the 5-8" storms we got.
