B2620 Usage Questions

I keep hearing R4's are no good in snow. I have no problem with traction even on up-grades. Mine aren't loaded either. I like my R4's.

Agrotrend for one makes a 54".... Roberge builds a 62"

Regardless the blowers are too heavy and they are impractical for this size tractor; I know I have one!

With pull type you need the weight and ground clearance to bust through snow berms (in reverse I may add) at the road left by plow trucks.

Not gonna happen!

I'll let people in snowier climates respond on the plowing, but I will tell you that traction is often the limiting factor in these smaller tractors.

I had a 50" box blade on my 2920 (same as 2620 but more HP) and it was great. If full of material, the tractor would run out of traction pretty quick, so I couldn't imagine using a bigger box on that tractor.

How firm is the lower part of the driveway? If it's compacted well, have you though about just having a load of crusher run delivered, and use it to smooth over the existing mess and level things out? I'd hate to disturb a stable compacted driveway with a rocky base, seems like it would be asking for trouble and could be a lot of work (and in the end you'd still have to bring in crusher run anyhow). If you can solve the problem with a 4" spread of crusher run groomed with a box blade, maybe that's a good way to go.

Around here, the problem is soft soil and clay, so we have to build up a base of large stone then top off with crusher run. Sometimes even put down cloth under the base rock to keep it from sinking. So half the battle is establishing a firm base. If you already have that, don't screw it up!

I run a 48" Box Blade on my 2320 and if full it cruses right along. I have Turf Tires and it's a Geared Transmission.

On flat I can have a full box and start in 6th gear. Going up a hill with full box I need to be in 3rd gear or so.

Even from stand still on hill, full box, she'll always pull it.

Your 50" might be taller and longer though and hold a lot more material.

As an fyi, the ease of changing out plow/blower and related subframe means that I can switch out to the FEL in but a couple of minutes and move the snow back from the side of the road. I then switch back to the plow/blower subframe and am ready for the next storm. I my case I have a sand/gravel/rock drive and need to plow until the ground is frozen. Switching the plow for the blower takes maybe 2 minutes on a bad day. Kubota has and excellent design!

I have the 2789 on my BX25 and is absolutely deadly. Will cut through practically anything. Just get chains, because your tractor has plenty of power. And +1 on the box blade/scraper.

Since you have a long driveway, I would go with front blower. You most likely will get a neck crick looking backwards ask the time with rear blower. If the bh is same design with bx, you probably will get ports, but no controls. Either have dealer install rear remotes for you, our read up for hours till you understand hydraulics and build your own of bh ports. I am sure the b will handle the snows as I use the smaller bx model with a front mounted plow. As for your driveway, use your quarry stones to build up the driveway over existing drive and get your crown in.

Wow sandyc, I wish I had that! I got a rear blower for my BX25 because I wanted the FEL on at the same time for cleanup and icy windrows and the like, and at the time I bought my rear blower, the front blower option for the BX25 was (a) a lot more expensive (b) much less sturdy, and (c) a big pain to put on and take off. I know that you can get a quick attach for the FEL arms on the new BX25, but what about the PTO shaft (and associated lines if you have a hydraulic chute rotator, etc.)? I see a lot of frustrated PTOers who lament what a pain it is sometimes to attach the shaft. I don't suppose you have a photo of what your setup looks like? I mean, 2 minutes switch out time is pretty impressive!

Congrats! I think you will be happy with your new machine. By the way, 200 hrs is the next service interval, so make sure it was done. And you will probably kick yourself in the butt for going so long without a compact tractor.
