Have any of you B2650 owners had a problem with the PTO gear selection? My new machine (10 hours) has three selections....viz, Rear PtO only, Mid PTO only and both. Currently my shifter is stuck in a position that runs the Mid PTO and the Rear PTO simultaneously. The dealer field mechanic could hardly get the shifter in that gear and noted (as best I can explain it) that is a temporary fix to allow the MMM to be used......until they get some new parts in.:confused3:
Cheers,
Mike

I had the same problem with mine. The front lever is the clutch, engage the clutch while the PTO's are turned off. Release the clutch, then try to engage the PTO again. You may have to do it a couple of times. The problem is that the PTO teeth are not aligned, engaging the clutch will move a gear to align them.

I was pretty upset when that happened to me, but then I remembered that my B2910 did the same thing.

Good Luck,
Joe

Had a similar problem on my 3350 and found that the problem was lack of lubrication on the right side of the case. Follow the linkage to where it connects to the left side of the and then look to where it rides on the outside of the right side. Get spray lube and apply to the end of the shaft....held in place by a circle clip. Move the lever a bit and it should slide like butter.

Thanks guys,

I was able to mow this afternoon where the mechanic left it, but the rear PTO cover was really warm....almost hot from running at mower rpm...about 2300...IIRC. Anyway, guess I'll wait until the dealer fix is done....it is under warranty of course. Your comments will be noted for later reference and I will report here on TBN when the dealer "fix" is complete.

Cheers,
Mike

Mine was very stiff when I first got it, but a liberal dose of lubricant on linkage helped a lot. I also found that when mine was engaged in mid pto only, there was a clicking noise coming from transmission. Come to find out, the pto was trying to engage rear pto and mid at same time. I ended up bending the linkage rod to shorten it up just a bit, which took care of the problem.

As a followup...........The dealer "fix" .......1. Was to order up parts
2. Truck it back to dealership for installation

I could not tell what parts were replaced, if any, (since it is under warranty) but I saw a lot of silicone lubricant when I crawled under there. Although I have not had the occasion to mow or used the 3-pt, everything seems to work okay now. I did find a stud on one mechanism that was missing a cotter pin or hairpin clip......an easy fix for me.

Cheers,
Mike
