As an update, I was mowing yesterday and the day before, and I did not have any issues at all. Except for the time I had the PTO engaged, it has started right back up without any jiggling or moving anything. Maybe it was just an anonmaly or a precursor to further issues, we'll see.

It happened again. I was backing the tractor out of the barn, throttle set to idle, and half way through the doorway, the engine died. Hit the key and it started right up. No involvement with the PTO, butt firmly on the seat, full tank of fuel, no water in the fuel filter, and a sunny warm day.

It's time to get the dealer involved with this. :(

This is slightly off topic but very relevant for those with a dpf unit Replace your seat interlock switch.

This will drive you crazy and can really mess things up if like my b3350 it cuts out during a parked regen.

I was about ready to trade in the machine until the dealer replaced the switch and gave me the grill cover for cold weather operation.

My unit would shut off at random with absolutely no warning. After replacement of the switch, installation of the grill cover and a software forced parked regen the machine has only regened twice in 30 hours.

I thought there was a logic problem with the ecm since the machine would shut off so frequently at the worst possible times. Now, the machine is actually usable.

Another great piece of advice the dealer tech gave me was to operate at 2000 rpm or higher. I was used to lower rpm use on an older non-dpf machine and he said that is a no-no on the 3350. 2000 rpms will give better fuel economy and allow for proper regen heat requirements. Lower than 2000 rpm will not regen properly.

Last note. When the dealer tech performed the forced parked regen with the grill cover on, the temp 'gauge' went to 4 bars. That was the highest I ever saw it go in 190 hours. He said that is the temp necessary for a proper parked regen.

I didn't think a switch and grill cover would solve the crazy issues I was having but so far (40 hours) and the machine has been flawless.

Your tractor has a sophisticated "operator presence control," that takes signals from 5 different sensors and then makes decisions.

This is the schematic of the system.

What has happened to others with different brands of tractors as well, is that the electronic circuitry within the controller starts to fail and individual electronic components work when cold but no longer work when warm.

This is feedback from the owner of a JD X300:

OK- Got the new part today & installed it, Took all of 5 minutes. Cut for about 15 minutes then the moment of truth. Pulled the mower deck engage & viola- She works again - tried it 3 more times off & on just to verify. All Good. Just an fyi the old part number was AM135490 & new replacement is AM141075. When I pulled the old ecu I could actually see 3 bubbles in the protective rubber covering where it looks like a resistor or whatever underneath had melted or at least gotten way too hot. The new one was perfectly flat. I am gonna try & tear it down to see what lies underneath soon. Hope this may help someone else on down the road. Again thanks to all who posted especially, DaveM7040 for all the time he spent helping me troubleshoot the problem. Happy holiday to all. Bill

I sent you a pm

As was suggested earlier, my issue stems from stalling it out while the HST control lever is being used. When it stalls out from over loading the mower, the HST lever does not quickly return to the perfect center. If I take my foot and kind of rock it back and forth slightly over the center/neutral position and then remove my foot, the machine reacts as normally expected and re-starts just fine.
