Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. I'll definitely be getting the 60" bucket. RonH., that homemade grapple is a sweet set-up! ;o)

Hey, that grapple is great. Where did you get the design? Also how do you mount clevis hooks to top of the 27/2910 buckets? Are the toothbars that useful?

I believe the 54"bucket is referred to as the Heavy Duty and
the 60" as light duty. I have the 54" only because of this
wording on the brochure at the time of purchase. After using
it for a year I can appreciate a little more capacity but would not
want less strength in the construction. I've already beefed mine up
at the vertical side cutting edge
and top for lifting hooks.Depends on how hard you will work
your tractor. RayBee

That is a slick looking grapple and toothbar setup!
It must work as good as it looks. And being homemade
must give you a lot of satisfaction. RayBee

RayBee, when I bought my B2710, the salesman really didn't know the differences in the buckets, but I think you'll find the 54" is the "Standard" bucket; not "Heavy Duty" and the 60" is called the "Light Material", not "Light Duty" bucket. I don't think there's much, if any, difference in the quality or material used in construction; just that the 60" can pick up more volume, but no more weight, and since the 60" bucket itself weighs 7 pounds more than the 54", I guess you could say you even reduced the weight it can handle by that much.

I think RayBee's on the ball here. I am now dimly recalling a light duty wide bucket for a 2910 that they usually show carrying wood chips or mulch. For someone who want to carry and move large volumes of lightweight material.

I'm changing my tune. I would not want that bucket instead of the 54" one. I, too, have welded reinforcements on the top edge of my 54" bucket as well as grab hooks. I do a lot more lifting, prying and shoving of heavy things with the bucket (stumps, rocks, logs, digging) than I do carrying large volumes of fluff. Good catch, RayBee.
