Hi all,

I have a hydrostatic B2910 about 2 years old, 110 hours, now has a off and on flaky behavior issue.

I was doing a loader project on Friday and Saturday. Moving some RR ties off my flat bed trailer and stacking them, and then when the project fell through, taking them off the stack and putting them back on the trailer. I did not have any help for this, so the basic operation was:

Drive the tractor and put the bucket of the FEL just below the deck of the trailer.

Get off the tractor and roll/push/shove the RR tie into the bucket.

Get on the tractor and lift the RR tie and move it.

So I was getting on and off the tractor allot. About the 10th operation that this happened, when I got off the tractor, the tractor shutdown. Just like I had turned off the key. Being aware that if you bump the PTO lever out of neutral detent that this could happen, I thought nothing of it until I got back on the tractor. Went to start it and it would not crank. Move the PTO lever in and out of neutral. Won't crank. Push in the clutch, Won't crank. I finally depressed the -go- foot pedal (brakes were not on) and the pedal of course sprang right back, and now the key would cause the tractor to crank and it started right up.

Move the next RR tie, get off the seat. Quickly tilt seat forward (still thinking its a PTO issue) tractor still turns off. Get back into seat, push go pedal, turn key, cranks right up. In fact, I could repeat this operation time and time again, about 10 times until I had finished that nights work.

When I say it would not crank, turning the key to the start position would give the normal test indicator idiot lights on the instrument gage, but the engine would not crank.

The next day, went to run the tractor moving more RR ties and for the first 6 ties or so, normal operation, and then again it would shut down when I left the seat, and after returning to the seat, the go foot pedal would allow it to crank on key start.

Anyone have any ideas?

Other then the turn off and won't start issue, the tractor runs quite normally.

Safety neutral position gadget tied into the HST pedal. It is an inherent issue with the pedal and the safety switch. Mine has done this since day one. I think there is a grease zerk on it but it often gets misaligned when returning to it's neutral position.

I agree with CRBR. I had the same issue with my 2920. Mentioned it to the dealer and he showed me that zerk. Since then haven't had a problem of it doing it. I just hit that zerk ever so often. It is underneath the deck between the forward and reverse pedals.

Hi all,

Thanks for the response. I greased the zirc under the deck and drove it over to my neighbors, twice shutting it down and starting it up. When I got it home, I was dumping off my carryall and as I got off the deck it shutdown. Now it won't start at all. I think it's time to call my dealer and have them look at it, unless someone has a better idea.

I know my tractor will kill the engine very quickly if you even touch the pedal and move your *** to the side of the seat to see. As long as you don't touch the HST pedal it's fine. It seams very sensitive. If it's not the pedal switch it could be the seat switch.

I'm pretty light and I have to be careful how far forward I sit on the seat or it will kill the engine. I've not had the problem with HST pedal that many have reported, but I have greased it regularly since I bought it. I do think the pedal action is a bit mushy and uncertain, so I'm not surprised it could have a problem with the safety switch.

When I had trouble with the HST pedal switch, I eventually found that by rocking the pedal a little, I could get it to the neutral position and then it would go ahead and start. When I mentioned it to the dealer, that is when he told me about the grease zerk. I also noticed it would sometimes continue to creap forward instead of stopping like it usually does.

I also had a problem with the seat switch, but it acted different. I would be doing something with the HST pedal pushed down and it would start to stall. If I was quick enough getting off the pedal, it would keep running, but sometimes it would stall, but restart. It would do it a few times, then run fine. One day I could hardly get aroung to the back of the house. I got off and flipped the seat forward and punched the seat switch a bunch of times. It did not do it again after that. Just before I went over 2 years, I took it in for a once over and mentioned that. They replaced the switch in warrenty.
