Anybody use a brush grubbed with a compact? What kind of results can I expect?

Thanks.

WaterCarving the brush grubber is a nice idea but it is a lot faster to use the loader if you have one. And it is a lot less stress on the tractor its self.

A member of one of our Volunteer Fire Departments bought one. After realizing that he had to get on and off his tractor so many times, he finally installed a tooth bar on his FEL. The last time that I talked to him, he was still pleased that he made the choice. He informed me that he made the correct decision and the time saved was well worth it. Just a thought? Good Luck.:tractor:

I'll have a fel. I'm also considering the ratchet rake.

So what's the best technique with the FEL -- just push on the sapling a few feet up?

Yep, the finish popping up the root ball with the FEL. A tooth bar is a HUGE help with this task.

I have a B2920 and a Brush Grubber. It is a pretty good tool to have. The regular duty version is plenty strong enough for a compact. I have a lot of sumac on some property we have and if you try to push it over with the FEL, it just bends. The brush grubber grabs it pretty well, although sometimes still slides up it and strips the leaves off. I have also used it sometimes at our house to pull stuff out where I could not get the FEL in there.

I also have a ratchet rake although in fairness to it, I have not used it enough to really give it a good test. It is very well made though. I used in in the fall on the burnt out yard to rake out old grass and create some grooves for overseeding. I tried it on the other property with the sumacs, but had only limited success. The Brush Grubber actually works better on them, but as mentioned by someone else, it means a lot of getting on and off or having two people, one for the tractor and one to put it on the tree. But to give the ratchet rake a better try, I will need to go back to the property on a day when I am not planning to do other stuff and just mess with trying to get that area cleared.
