B2920 TLB turfs and loaded ags
last night i was pushing some leaf piles back a little - zero load on the tractor and the rpms fell off , it barely ran then it stalled. i let it sit, it turned over slowly but wouldn't start. i let it sit longer and it slowly started then ran close to normal , then it was fine. scared the crap out of me because this unit has been flawless. any ideas on what may have caused it? other than bogging with the PTO chipper its never done anything similar. any ideas?

Probably the fuel filter, or it could just be that the brakes were partly on, heated up, expanded, and that will also stall the engine. Don't ask how I know..

Ditto on possible clogged fuel filter. Another possibility is tank isn't venting properly. I suggest to check for good fuel flow from tank to inj pump.

To check the tank vent, after running it for awhile take the fuel cap off. IF you hear it sucking air like the tank was under vacuum....thats a sign of the vent in the cap being plugged

All above suggestions are good and most likely. Summer fuel going into winter might thicken or gello. Around here not sure stations change so always add stanadyne to improve winter flow, lubricity, water separation and performance.

It's fuel related. Guys above mentioned the usual checks to make. All good comments except post #6 suggesting gel and winterized fuel concern is VERY unlikely. That only crops up below roughly 10 or 12 deg F. You don't say where you are, but I doubt being that cold was your problem.

If you get water in your fuel you can get ice slugs that clog the fuel line: this can readily happen in temps that aren't as low as JWR suggests is necessary for gelling. I had that happen on my Kioti: stupid fuel cap was letting in rain water!

If there is enough water in the fuel lines to freeze into slugs of ice you've got one heck of a higher priority (100% of the attempted operating time) than worrying about temperature. Injection pumps and related tiny orifices' do not like water and that much water brings the whole process to a screeching halt.

As other mention fuel filter also how old the diesel in the tank, plus check tank for slime etc.

Im in Great Falls Va so I dont think its due to low temps. Fuel filter sounds god . I will change asap and keep this posted in case it helps someone else.

it had to be the fuel filter - it was pretty dirty so i need to check between intervals. thank you for the feedback !

New tractor. NEVER experienced it before, nor did the thought ever occur to me. But, there it was. Small diameter nipple and hose out the bottom of the tank: mass required to block is small- amount of water maybe half a thimble, if even that?

About 720 hrs and not a single engine issue. System worked as it should (water detection and collection in the filter, pre-sensitive components): and the dealer either knowingly or not resolved the water incursion issue.
