B3030
i just got a 5' standard Woods rotary cutter.
When i was putting the 3 point hitch on I noticed the B3030 operator manual saying max would be 4' model? The cutter says its needs 25hp tractor to run, mine is 30hp but know i'm wondering if they are talking PTO HP which mine is 23hp. I bought it where i got tractor and they said it would fit the tractor.
Also noticed book says 500lbs max, and cutter is 554lbs.
Did i over do it with size or worried about nothing?

I have a 2004 B2910 (model previous to B3030) and run a 5' Woods BB60 cutter and it works great. My tractor is rated 22 HP at PTO.

I just posted the same concern you did. Dealer says one thing, manual says another. let us know how your mower works out. Hope I receive some answers on my post.

Bob, I don't think a 4' brush hog would extend out past your rear tires, and I'd sure want one that would do that so I could get close to fences, buildings, etc. I used a 5' one on my B2710 (in fact, I had a 4' one for my B7100 and traded it because it wasn't wide enough to suit me with the B2710). So in my opinion, you have the right size with a 5' brush hog.

The manual did confuse me a little.
Thanks everyone, I tried it today and deffinitly seems Ok, going up hills or heavy brush did not seem to bog thigs down.

I use a Woods 60" RFM on my B3030 without any problems. I was a little concerned about the weight specified in the Kubota manual and the weight of the Woods mower but so far everything seems to be working fine. I've used it on some fairly hilly areas cutting badly overgrown areas - 4' grass, briars, saplings, etc. I think a rotary cutter might be better and easier in those situations but the RFM gets the job done if I go slow and double cut.

It's not an exact "science" on this kind of situation. I'm sure Kubota is looking at legal issues like every other manufacturer of "dangergous" equipment and staying on the safe side of lawsuits.
I look at those specs as "either/or". In other words, in general do not exceed either 4ft OR 500 lbs. Most 500 lb +/- cutters are going to be very similar in the tractor's ability to run in. Some 4ft models could actually be much heavier if heavier-duty. I have a 4ft med duty for my BX that is 500 lbs. I think you have a perfect set up. If you were really pushing the cutter in tough-to-cut stuff all the time, maybe a 4ft med duty would be better, but for most of us, the tough stuff is only occasionally going to happen anyway.
Sounds like a very nice tractor/cutter combo. ENJOY :)
