b5000 pto problems

i have a grey market b5000 and the pto shaft is about 2 inches long and 1-1/6 inches in diameter and 6 spline. all of the adapters i have found dont fit right and theres no way to keep it on. i have called western kentucky tractor parts for help and they said i had an odd ball tractor and coudnt help. so my question to you all is will the pto shaft conponets from a b5100 work in my tractor????????????? my gut feeling is that it will but i sure dont want to spend the money and it not work!!!!!!!

Does your PTO rotate clock wise or counter clockwise? Even if you found an adaptor, if it rotates the wrong direction, you are still out of luck. There was actually an adaptor that was more of a gear box to go on the back of those small tractor to change the direction also. I am making assumptions here though. Yours may turn the correct direction. The one tractor that I had with the small shaft also had more splines than that. It was a Mitsubishi.

The Mitsubishi uses a different # of splines than the Kubota uses. I have an adapter/reverser for the Mitsubishi. I may be able to modify it to work with the Kubota

you mention the spline is 1-1/6" diameter. Could it possibly be 1-1/8" diameter? I noticed there are PTO adapters out there that are for converting 6 spline 1-1/8" to 6 spline 1-3/8" and are relatively inexpensive. Apparently, "older tractors" (whatever that means) use 1-1/8" 6 spline shafts instead of the 1-3/8" 6 spline shafts we use now.

I suppose your PTO could be metric for some reason, but not sure why they'd do that.
