Here is the tractor scooping up some of the excavation debris.

Hard to see in the pictures, but, the land sloped 2:1 to the side of the shed. I cut the slope away about 6', trenched a small footing and then put up a 4' Keystone retaining wall the hold remaining slope.

Here is a better pix of the slope being cut.

The upper pad with the bobcat is where the new shop is now located. The bobcat is being used by the contractor to move the gravel as backfill in building an upper retaining wall (not shown).

The finished product showing the Keystone wall. There is now some gravel covering the dirt making a fairly decent walkway.

Throughout these pix you can see lots of fairly large sized boulders. The darker colored ones are some landsacpe boulders I moved for the project and replaced after the shop was completed. The light colored boulders are natural to the locale. As I say, our soil is, not yet, decomposed granite.

Here is how to move these suckers around. The tractor/backhoe can dig out bigger boulders that it can pick up with the 'hoe bucket.
