B7610 squealing noise ??

Yes, the plastic boot was my problem also. After writing a letter to the Kubota southeast regional headquarters in Atlanta, they had a Kubota service tech meet me at the dealership where I bought the tractor and he thought the noise was in the front hub. Well I left my tractor to be repaired and the mechanic drove it in to the shop and sprayed a shot of chain lube on the shaft where the end of the plastic boot is and the problem was solved, 100 hours later no noise.

You would think that Kubota would issue a service notice to it's dealers regarding this noise and the fix for it.

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!
OK, this squealing noise finally became so irritating and I became so frustrated from not being able to find it's source that I took it to the dealer. It cost me about $120 but alas, problem solved. I could kick myself because it was so simple. The culprit: The front drive shaft that comes from the transmission to the front axle, has a plastic boot/cover around the front 1/2 of the shaft. The spinning of the drive shaft was somehow rubbing, or causing vibration to the plastic boot and the noise I was hearing was the result of this. The mechanic said that he loosened the hose clamp that held the boot in place, which allowed him access to coat the front 1/2 of the drive shaft with wheel bearing grease. The grease, along with a slight adjustment to the position of the boot has completely eliminated the problem. Maybe the others who have responded to this thread with the same problem can now save themselves some $ by fixing it themself.

I've owned alot of Kubotas and really use them. First thing I always do is tap a zirc fitting on the end of the pastic boot (the thick part). Just drill through it all the way past the metal bushing and a LITTLE into the front drive shaft.
Tap and screw in a zirc fitting.....problem always eliminated. If you haul loads downhill with your FEL in 4WD, prepare to replace the ring (bevel) and shaft
gears at about 800 hrs. Sometimes, better sooner, than later, if ya want to get picky with your dealer, upon receipt on your tractor remover the front wheels and bevel covers and the ring and shaft gears...HAVE THEM X-RAYED by a metallurgist. They manufacture these gears with cracks developing in the teeth during the casting and grinding process. Really bad news..it can kill you too!

Boy, you nailed it! I had the same squealing on mine. Couldn't figure it out. Thought I had hydrostatic trouble. Shot some lube down that plastic boot and instantly stopped that annoying squeal! Thanks NC!

Botagreen, you saved me a bunch of time, trouble and money! I had apparently knocked a dimple in that plastic front axle boot on my 2006 B7510HST. I'm a "gentleman farmer" and the tractor only has 200 hours, so I was quite distressed when she started loudly "complaining". She was about to go on the trailer for a sure-to-be-expensive trip to the shop, when I read your post. I worked as much of that dimple out as I could and packed the boot with grease, and the howling and growling is a thing of the past. Thanks!
