Hi,
I'm going to look at a lightly used B7800 tomorrow, just wodering if it is too be for my needs. I will mow mostly with it, about 2 acres. I plan using it in the woods once in a while for firewood and just to keep it cleaned out. This machine has a nice loader on it. I have a 4' hog and a 54" tiller that I want to be able to use. Also, 5' finish mower. Guess I'm wodering about the manuverablilty of the 7800. thanks, brett w

What are you use to driving?

I have a 7800 and the main reason I got it was ground clearance. You mentioned woods. That implies stumps and saplings. For me, it was important I get around or over them.

If you already have a 5' mower and it does not cause a problems getting around your property the B7800 will do a great job. Your other attachments are sized properly for a B7800. Is your tiller the type that can be offset? B7800's have a tread width about 59".

Kubota makes some of the tightest turning compacts built. The 7800 has enough horsepower to run a 72" deck with no trouble at all and it helps to keep the trimming time down.

I get around pretty good on my back hillside with my B2910, even with the loader on and a 5' brush hog on the back. Even better when the loader is off when brush hogging.

Over the last two years I put 490 hours on this machine, so I have been getting some use out of it. I don't finish mow with it, but when I did with a RFM it did a pretty good job.

With R4 tires the tires are just a shade narrower than the 54" bucket. As you can see in the picture I attached, this tractor will get between and around trees pretty well.

And the tractor does get smaller with use... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That being said, I think after I get the projects done that I have been working on, since I only have 3.7 acres, this tractor will sit more and more, and my smaller tractor will start taking over.

If I had to have one tractor (and only one) for the long term, my gut tells me a slightly smaller tractor would make more sense. My head keeps gravitating towards the B7500 size machine when I toy with the "one tractor only" thought...for use on a few acres.

But since I am fortunate to be one of the lucky ones, with more than one tractor, I really do love my B2910 (same tractor as the B7800 in reality) and think it is the perfect size as my large tractor.

However, having the experience I have now, a B7500 size tractor really does seem to fill the bill for the needs you described.

It is important to fit the tractor to the needs at hand (and projected). Bigger is not always better... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif (I can't believe I said that... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
