I got stuck yesterday and had trouble getting the wheel lock to work. How is it done exactly? Clutch, then lock pedal?
Wheels spinning, then lock pedal? Pedal then power to the wheels? thanks again, Brett W

Simply push down on the pedal!! Actually, it is best to back off of the throttle ( or hydro pedal) before you engage the diff lock so as not to expose the lock up unit to a tremendous shock when you engage it.

From the B7510 Operator's Manual:

If one of the rear wheels should slip, step on the differential lock pedal. Both wheels then turn together, reducing slippage.

Differential lock is maintained only while the pedal is depressed.

IMPORTANT:

When using the differential lock, always slow the engine down.

To prevent damage to power train, do not engage differential lock when one wheel is spinning and the other is completely stopped.

If the differential lock cannot be released in the above manner, step lightly on the brake pedals alternately.

I love the way these manuals are written. It is obvious that English is the writer's second language and nobody does any proofreading. The last sentence doesn't make much sense as it is written. It says "in the above manner" but doesn't tell you how to release it in the paragraphs above.

When my 7800 was delivered the differential lock was described as a pin that fits into a hole, locking the 2 wheels together. As I recall the instructions were not to step on the pedal if the wheel was spinning, to ease off, step on the pedal and then step on the forward (or reverse) pedal. You can feel the differential lock pedal drop a bit when the pin locks. If you don't then ease up on the differential lock, rotate the tire slightly with the HST pedal and try again!

I've gotten out of some really muddy holes with the differential lock, saved me going for the come along /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
