I been keeping my eye on the new B7800 w/fel,and listening also reading about the pros & cons, soooo would it be wise to think about purchasing this year or next year since since its new to the market?

What are your likes?
What are your dislikes?

Thanks.

I looked at them this summer and didn't buy one because the price was too high compared to the NH TC24D, however that might have been more a function of the one dealer wanting to deal versus the other dealer not being as responsive. The B7800 looks to be a very good tractor design, I doubt that it being a new model will greatly affect any reliability issues if you buy it this winter or if you wait until spring. The question in my mind is do you need a new tractor for something this winter? I would see no reason to delay a purchase due to reliability issues.

But do yourself a favor, if there is a NH dealer in the area take a look at their TC24, I do not regret my purchase, despite my 10+ year relationship with my Cub/Kubota dealer. I purchased 3 pieces of riding equipment from the Cub/Kubota dealer (one was bought after I bought the NH) and the owner and I are on a first name basis, but I liked the TC24 better. All of it is what you are more comfortable with. There is no doubt in my mind that the B7800 is a sound and solid machine.

Thomas,

I do not think it is a new model at all [in reality].

From what I have read here and when I saw one, it just looked like the B2710/2910 product, with a litlle less sheet metal and less frills...but the same basic frame, engine, running gear and so on...

My first tractor, but I'm throughly impressed with my B7800 with 402FEL. I didn't need the frills of the 2910 and it is basically the same core package, so I felt good about reliability. I might add the adjustable links however, once I get more implements.

Pros: Has performed flawlessly for first 50 hours. If anything, it has more power than it should for its weight, making it a bit dangerous if you're not safety conscious. Yesterday, I was picking up full buckets of wet gravel and taking them down a steep hill. Backend felt light even with loaded tires and BH attached.

Cons: I added a used 4672 backhoe and the seats hit each other. Odd design. Also, the seat safety switches take a bit of time to get used to. I was about to disconnect them, but finally got used to them and now it doesn't bother me anymore as I remember to flip up the seat when the PTO is engaged and I jump off the tractor.

avorancher, there are hitch pins that are just a little different then the pins you use now for the Cat 1 pins that will replace the pins in those links for the stabilizer. They remove with just flipping the bail over and pull the pin then you connect your implement. I still like to be able to tighten the implements up with the turnbuckle to remove all unnessesary of sway.

Thomas,

I've had my 7800 for a couple of weeks now and am really glad I bought it. It has tremendous power for its size and doesn't feel like a first year model at all. To Henro's point it's really not, since its just a stripped down 2910, with the same engine and guts, just lacking the ratcheting links, adjustable suspension in the seat, tilt steering and cruise control (and probalby a few things I forgot). Like avorancher says, it almost has too much power. The first time I gunned it, I almost popped a wheelie (well, alright, I didn't, but it sure felt that way at the time). My old 1750, as great an old girl as she was (isn't your first one always the most special?), couldn't have done the things that the 7800 has done without hesitation or struggling.

Bob asked the key question - do you need it this winter? If you're going to plow snow and don't have any other option, then don't hold off, just because its a 'new' model. If, however, it's just going to sit in the barn all winter, then save your bucks until spring.

But, rest assured, whenever you buy it, you are gonna love it.

narcnh (who will be out playing, I mean working, on his again this weekend)

All set for snow removeal w/quick hitch snow plow to the bucket on B7100HST,and the wife got a brand new 10hp snowblower /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I do want to go tad bigger w/only the basic..3pt hitch, fel, easy on/off,fold down rops,hp,rear pto and oh yes power steering. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Since the B7800 somewhat new to the market,I decide to wait before purchasing just in case there where some factory problems, plus keep and eye open for all pro & cons from new B7800 owners.

Thomas,

Just reached 50 hours. I can only say good things about it.
I thought I'd put on more hours, but i guess the tractor takes less time to do things. That must be good? Right?

Anyway, it saved my back last winter on the driveways... hey I went *looking* for some more street to plow....

It impressed the wife, moving bluestone and adding a base for her horse paddock... that FEL is a must have.

It widened and maintained some trails....

It moved over 40 sheets of T-111 for its new home and a run in shed....

It is clearing a horse riding ring this w/e. Either pulling or pushing the stumps over and out....

It is perfect for what I need it to do..... and the best part is -
I turn the key and go do it!

I hope you plan to direct operations from atop your 7100, while your wife breaks in her new snowblower. Breaking that in should take most of the winter, I reckon. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
